Survivor Season 48 Week 7 Recap

The episode begins with the castaways returning to camp after tribal council. Jonathan is pleased that Dee was voted out. He says this was exactly what he wanted. He’s also glad that Aubry’s idol is out of the game too. Tiffany, however, laments losing her #1 ally Dee. She also received votes, but she doesn’t know who voted for her. In his confessional, Coach takes credit for acquiring the votes to send Dee out of the game. He and Jonathan talk, and they feel good about the move they made. Nonetheless, Jonathan warns Coach that he’s a big personality and he needs to be careful. Coach doesn’t think there’s much he can do, but he says he’ll try not to run the next vote. Jonathan says they’ll see what happens, but he seems doubtful.

The next morning Jonathan and Stephenie talk game. They agree that Coach has rubbed people the wrong way and he needs to settle down. Regardless, Stephenie feels like their alliance is running the game. She names herself, Jonathan, Coach, Chrissy, Joe, Ozzy, and Cirie as the alliance of seven. Chrissy pitches taking out the “middle people” like Rick, Emily, and Christian next so they don’t coast throughout the game.

We next see a conversation between Ozzy and Tiffany. Ozzy admits he voted for Tiffany because he felt like he had to. He tells her he wants to vote for Coach. Tiffany appreciates the honesty. In her confessional, Tiffany says “Your enemy today can be your ally tomorrow.” In his confessional, Ozzy says he, Cirie, and Rizo have been playing all sides. Ozzy says Coach is on his hit list, but he wants to take him out when he least expects it.

Next a boat approaches their camp. They get a message informing them that they must divide into six pairs. There will be one odd person out. Multiple people volunteer to be the odd person out. After a rock draw, it’s decided that Cirie will be excluded from the pairs. In her confessional, Cirie explains she wanted to avoid the awkwardness of more than one person asking to team up with her. The remaining castaways pair up. The pairs are Jonathan & Christian, Chrissy & Coach, Ozzy & Stephenie, Joe & Tiffany, Emily & Rizo, and Aubry & Rick. Before the challenge, Jonathan and Joe discuss targeting Aubry or Rick next. After Aubry played her idol, there will likely be a new one hidden. They worry Rick could find an idol.

Later Coach and Tiffany have a chat. Coach wants to try to do damage control. He says he did not push for her name to be written down. Tiffany asks who was it then. Coach doesn’t answer, and the conversation ends awkwardly. In her confessional, Tiffany says Coach refuses to take accountability and says there is no game relationship with him.

Next the castaways greet Jeff at the challenge. He reveals what the pairs mean. There is a twist. They will run this challenge in their pairs, and the winning pair will get immunity. However, although they will vote individually at tribal council, they can only vote for one of the pairs. One of the pairs will be voted out of the game together. Cirie will not be part of the challenge. The good news is she cannot be voted out tonight. However, she will be going to Exile Island. After Cirie departs, Jeff explains the rules of the challenge. They must go through a series of obstacles in stages. Only three pairs will move on to the final round, which will end at a table maze. The winning pair will also win a spaghetti reward.

The challenge begins. Joe & Tiffany take the early lead while Coach & Chrissy fall behind in last place. The challenge evens out at the plank bridge, but it is Joe & Tiffany, Ozzy & Stephenie, and Rick & Aubry who build their plank bridges first. They will move on to the next stage. Jonathan & Christian, Emily & Rizo, and Coach & Chrissy have no shot at immunity now. The final stage begins. After maneuvering balls out of a cage, they can use those balls to attempt the table maze. Aubry & Rick are the first to retrieve their ball, and they are followed by Ozzy & Stephenie. Joe & Tiffany are taking a long time with the cage. Eventually, Joe & Tiffany finally get their ball before the other pairs finish the table maze. Joe & Tiffany also get their first ball in the table maze. They land their second ball too. Joe & Tiffany win immunity!

We next see Cirie at Exile Island. She is presented with a challenge. There are 2,000 coconuts on the island. She must find the coconut with the phoenix on it within the allotted time. If she succeeds, she will return to camp and participate in tribal council. If she fails, then she will not vote at tribal council and will spend the night on Exile Island. Cirie gets started, and the heat from the afternoon sun makes the challenge harder. She gets emotional, but she eventually finds the phoenix. She can depart Exile Island and return to camp.

Meanwhile, the castaways are scrambling. Emily says Stephenie, Jonathan, Coach, Joe, and Chrissy are a tight alliance. Emily says they need to break them up by voting for Coach and Chrissy tonight. Rizo tells Ozzy that he doesn’t want the floaters to have control, so he wants Aubry and Rick to go.

Aubry chats with Rick, and she says she wishes she still had her idol. During reward, Joe admits he voted for Tiffany. However, he wants to work with her moving forward, and Tiffany is on board. Joe pitches voting out Rick and Aubry. Tiffany is fine with that. Tiffany says Coach is terrible at challenges, so he’s not a threat. She calls Chrissy a control freak. Tiffany calls them shields they can keep in the game. Chrissy hopes she doesn’t go down on the ship with Coach. She wants Coach to stay calm the whole afternoon. Chrissy pitches voting out Emily & Rizo to Aubry and Rick.

Cirie returns to camp. She talks to Ozzy and Tiffany. Ozzy is on the fence about which way to go, but he’s leaning toward voting out Rick and Aubry. Cirie believes taking out Coach and Chrissy is the obvious move. She says they need to vote them out. Cirie has more chats to lead the vote toward Chrissy and Coach.

Chrissy later chats with Cirie. Chrissy tells Cirie she wants to vote out Rizo & Emily. Unbeknownst to Chrissy, Rizo is one of Cirie’s closest allies. Cirie lets Rizo know that Chrissy is targeting him, which solidifies that Chrissy and Coach must be voted out tonight. Rizo doesn’t want to make this move without Joe, so he wants to clue him in. Joe thinks Coach is a loyal ally for him, and Joe doesn’t trust Rick. He wants Rick & Aubry to be voted out tonight instead. He doesn’t want to give up on this plan, so Joe tells Stephenie and Jonathan that Aubry and Rick need to go. They are on board. Joe also asks Rizo to stick with him on this vote.

Chrissy tells Coach Rick and Aubry is the plan, so they need to vote for them to save themselves. Rick is worried. He knows he and Aubry are on the chopping block, so he wonders if he should play the fake idol he and Christian planted at tribal council.

It’s time for tribal council. Jeff asks about the pairs twist. Christian says the twist drives him crazy. Aubry says the game is not on trial. They signed up for this, so the producers can throw anything at them. Rick admits he knows he could be voted out tonight. Coach says he lied low this afternoon to not bring attention to himself. Coach says no one can keep a secret, so he observed more than usual. Joe says they can see for themselves what they can overcome when a twist like this gets added to the game. Rick says there were a lot of names thrown out today, including his own. Rick stands up and grabs the fake idol he and Christian hid several episodes ago. Now there’s whispering. The tribal gets chaotic as allies try to reconfirm plans with one another. Eventually, it’s time to vote.

Before Jeff reads the votes, Rick does not play the fake idol. He lies to Aubry and says he has to sneak it out of tribal council first before it can be played. Coach, however, plays his Shot in the Dark advantage. Jeff reads the scroll. It says “Not Safe.”

The first vote is for…

Rick & Aubry

Coach & Chrissy

Emily & Rizo

Chrissy & Coach

Chrissy & Coach

Chrissy & Coach

Chrissy & Coach

Chrissy & Coach

Chrissy and Coach are the twelfth and thirteenth castaways voted out of Survivor 50. And that wraps up tonight’s episode of Survivor. Thanks for reading, and come back next week for another live recap.
