American Idol 2026: Hannah Harper Shows Off Pure and Beautiful Vocals on “Landslide”

On Monday night’s show (April 13), the American Idol Season 24 Top 11 took on songs from Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame inductees and were mentored by Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo. A Top 9 was revealed at the end of the show. Although not a super rock n’ roll moment, one singer, viral favorite country singing mom Hannah Harper, stood out. (Read Our Recap)

In her video package, Hannah shared about how Jo Dee Messina reacted to her singing “Heads Carolina, Tails California” on social media after her performance last week. She says this week she is nervous due to not growing up with rock music.

She shared with Pat and Neil about growing up on a bus amid her bluegrass upbringing. Pat compared her “beautiful voice” to a “little bird.” Hannah forgot about her guitar in rehearsal, and Neil actually advised her to open the performance without the guitar and then bring it in for the second half.

He believes Hannah represents “pureness in family in music.” Hannah asked if Pat and Neil traveled with their kids as they were touring, and Pat said they always did. Hannah also hoped to upgrade her tour from a van to a bus. She noted how hard it is right now as her husband is with her kids while she competed on the show.

Hannah performed a classic

Hannah’s tone sounded so pure on the opening line. She seemed to have less nerves here than some of her other live performances, and is connected to the lyrics. The song is a classic, and has been done several times on the show. But her version is stunning as her bluegrass tone shines through. I’m not a huge country music fan and haven’t been a fan of many of Hannah’s performances, but this one was pure beauty. It had emotion, showcased her tone, and was the perfect song choice. Hannah has had her share of viral moments on the show including her audition, but this performance was her at her best.

Lionel Richie said, “That was a classic song with a classic performance. Amazing.” Carrie Underwood called it “beautiful” telling Hannah, “it sounded like you.” Luke Bryan added, “It made me forget I was judging on American Idol. It was like I was at a performance then an award show. It was really special.”

Hannah soared through to the Top 9. She wasn’t the only one who stood out on Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame Night. The other two performers who nailed their performances and are consistent each week were Keyla Richardson and her soulful vocals on Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” and Jordan McCullough who closed the show with a big vocal on Queen’s “Somebody to Love,” which showed off all of his vocal tools.
