Survivor 38 Recap and Live Blog: Edge Of Extinction Week 10

A new episode of Survivor: Edge of Extinction airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap and join the discussion here.

The episode begins on Night 27 at the Vata camp after tribal council. Lauren is disappointed to lose her close ally Kelley. She says she’s out for blood against Wardog. She also wants Rick out since she views him as a threat. However, she’s unsure where the others stand with her. Meanwhile, Gavin is frustrated that Wardog excluded him from the Kelley blindside. He also doesn’t appreciate how Wardog barks orders at people. Gavin wants him out next. Gavin approaches Ron and Victoria and tells them he wants them to work together to vote Wardog out. Later, Ron tells Julie that Aurora have him her extra vote advantage to build trust with him. He says it’s still hers, but the advantage would be his if Aurora gets voted out. Although Julie and Ron voted differently this past tribal council, Julie still feels like she can trust Ron.

The next morning, Rick, Wardog, and Ron talk game alone. Rick says they are the only ones who have built resumes and they should stick together. Rick thinks they need each other to make it to the end. Wardog seemingly agrees, and he says he wants to vote the “goats” out. They agree to vote out Aurora at the next tribal council. However, Ron admits in his confessional that he sees himself in the middle of these two sides.

It’s time for the reward challenge. They will be divided into two teams of four. They must swim out to platforms under the water and untie rings. They must then toss the rings onto three posts. The first team to land three rings will be taken away to get clean and enjoy some food. The challenge begins. On the Blue Team are Julie, Wardog, Lauren, and Rick. On the Yellow Team are Ron, Gavin, Aurora, and Victoria. Aurora’s skill in the water is helping the Yellow Team gain a lead. The Yellow Team starts tossing rings first, but the Blue Team is not too far behind. Gavin and Rick are tossing rings for their respective teams, and Rick manages to land three rings before Gavin. Julie, Wardog, Lauren, and Rick win reward!

On Extinction Island, Kelley is venting to Joe. She’s frustrated how her game ended with an idol in her pocket. She says she is mad at herself for not trusting her gut. Joe and Aubry give her a hug, but Reem is glad Kelley has been voted out. “Finally!” Reem says in her confessional. Reem is a super fan, and she blames Kelley for ending her time in the game so quickly.

Back at the Vata camp, Ron, Gavin, Aurora, and Victoria discuss how well Rick did in the challenge today. They say that’s another reason to vote him out tonight. Gavin agrees, but he admits in his confessional that he still wants Wardog gone. However, he knows that he must go with the numbers to stay in the game. Meanwhile, Ron is contemplating voting out Aurora to keep her advantage for himself. Later, we see Aurora and Ron bicker over the rice and how much should be served. Aurora says in her confessional that she wants to “break-up” with Ron, but she can’t in the game position she is in. Ron says in his confessional that Aurora drives him crazy.

Meanwhile, Rick, Lauren, Wardog, and Julie enjoy their reward. They rub mud on each other and take a shower too. While Wardog and Rick are showering, Lauren and Julie whisper to each other whom should be voted out. Lauren wants Rick gone next, but Julie would rather vote out Wardog. They later join Rick and Wardog at the table and enjoy their food.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. They will go through an obstacle course and then solve a puzzle. The first castaway to solve the puzzle will win immunity. The challenge begins, and Aurora takes an early lead as she goes through the first two obstacles first. Rick eventually catches up to her, but all the castaways get to the puzzle station. They are all working on their puzzle at the same time. Rick solves his puzzle first. Rick wins immunity.

The castaways return to camp after the immunity challenge. Victoria is disappointed they won’t be able to vote out Rick since she views him as a big threat. After Rick and Wardog wander into the forest, Ron asks the others whom they should vote out. Aurora, Julie, and Victoria agree to vote out Wardog. However, in his confessional, Ron is hesitant to vote out Wardog since he thinks he’ll be voted out next if Wardog is gone. Meanwhile, Wardog is aware he could be voted out tonight, so he tries to get the numbers to vote out Aurora tonight. Julie agrees to this plan, and she later asks Lauren if voting out Aurora instead of Wardog tonight is the right move. Lauren says voting out Aurora tonight is the right move, but she begins to have second thoughts. Later, Aurora admits in her confessional that she’s contemplating using her extra vote advantage tonight.

It’s time for tribal council. Jeff asks about the vibe at camp, and Wardog says there is more paranoia and less people. Gavin says Wardog hasn’t talked to him since the Kelley vote, and he adds that Wardog “talked at him” instead of “to him.” Rick adds that big targets have been voted out the last few tribal councils, and Wardog agrees. He thinks he could be in trouble too. He says he and Ron both got Kelley out, and Ron admits that that’s truthful. Victoria adds that the targets are the bigger threats, and she also points out how certain people are seemingly bragging about getting big threats out. She says this could put a target on their backs. Jeff asks if it’s clear who the big threats are, but they say the criteria of a threat could be different for each of them. Rick says it’s a scary time around camp. He says he feels like Julius Caesar. Ron says he just wants to find true relationships and people he can trust. Lauren says a solid alliance could be complicated since everyone in a solid alliance believes they could beat the people they’re aligned with. Aurora says she believes people will be surprised by what happens tonight. Afterwards, it’s time for the vote.

Jeff reads the votes. The first vote is for…

Aurora

Wardog

Wardog is voted out and the ninth member of the jury.
