The Voice Comeback Stage Season Recap: What You Missed (VIDEO)

Bebe Rexha The Voice Comeback Stage

Next Monday on The Voice the Top 24 will sing for your votes and an opportunity to advance to  the Top 12. However, behind the scenes, the “fifth judge” Bebe Rexha has been conducting a parallel competition. All season long, six no turn contestants and 3 eliminated Battle Round singers have been vying for the opportunity to become the 13th finalist.

A no turn contestant, Kanard Thomas, won the Comeback Stage and will battle against one artist eliminated from the Cross Battles–yet to be revealed–for that coveted spot in the final rounds.

Initially, The Comeback Stage advertised that, like last season, TWO finalists would emerge to battle each other on the Top 24 results show. But late in the game, The Voice producers decided to throw eliminated Cross Battle contestants into the mix. And it WAS late in the game. The Comeback stage digital shorts advertised two winners up through to the end of the second battle round pairing.

Next Tuesday (April 30) Kanard will battle one of either Kaylin Victoria, Karen Galera, Andrew Jannakos, LB Crew, Karly Moreno, Julian King, Beth Griffith-Manley or The Bundys for the instant twitter vote.  Good luck to Kanard, whose television exposure is no match, versus a singer who has been featured on three rounds of The Voice.

In the Comeback Stage finale, Kanard faced eliminated Battle Round contestant Cierra Dumas, from Team Adam. Both singers are standouts. The coaches made a big mistake not turning for Kanard. And Adam should have never let Cierra go.  Watch the Comeback Stage finale here.

Previously on the Comeback stage:

Bebe paired six no-turn contestants for battles. First it was Nathan and Chesi vs Klea Olson. Bebe chose country music duo, Nathan and Chesi to move on to the next battle. What struck me was how much better most of these singers were in a relaxed setting. Nerves on the big stage got to all of them, I suspect.

Next, it was Kanard Thomas vs J.T. Rodriguez. J.T.’s unusual, soulful voice is probably too stylized to get far in the voting rounds. Of course, Kenard took the round.

And the last No Turn battle featured Crystal Rose vs Kayla Seeber. Kayla wins the battle. Both singers were good in their own way. What probably sunk Crystal? Even performing in an intimate setting, Crystal was STILL nervous.

In the next round, the three winners of the no-turn battles faced off against three eliminated Battle Round contestants.

In the battle between no-turners Nathan & Chesi and Battle Round singer Savannah Brister of Team Legend, Savannah was the winner.

No-turn contestant Kayla Seeber faced off against Team Adam’s Ciera DumasCiera was victorious. She was one of my favorites in the Blinds!

Lastly, no-turner Kanard Thomas fought Battle Round singer David Owens from Team Kelly. And of course, Kenard won the battle.

The semi-final round had the remaining contestants, Savannah Brister, Ciera Dumas and Kenard Thomas face off. Bebe eliminated Savannah, leaving Kenard and Ciera to fight in the finale.
