Survivor 30 Worlds Apart – Episode 8 Live Blog

A new episode of Survivor airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap here.

The tribe returns to camp after the surprising Tribal Council. Rodney is disappointed Kelly is gone and he blames Mike for changing the vote to Jenn at the last minute when it was originally going to be Hali. Rodney and Will talk about how Mike is running the show. Will was the only one who voted for Hali, and he’s not happy about it. Rodney wants to bring in Will, Tyler, and Carolyn to after Mike after the no collars and Shirin are gone. Meanwhile, Mike congratulates Jenn on playing her idol, and she is very nonchalant while talking to him. The next day, Rodney is annoyed by Shirin. He considers her a pointless player and believes the former blue collars have control of the game.

Reward challenge time. The challenge will be played in two parts. They all will race on balance beams to collect bags with puzzle pieces. The first three to collect all their bags will move to the second round, and the first person to complete his or her puzzle will win reward (a pizza picnic). Joe, Mike, and Hali are the first three to collect their bags and move on to the next round, and Joe completes his puzzle first and wins reward. He gets to choose four people to come along with him, and he chosses Tyler, Will, Carolyn, and Shirin.

We see the five people on the reward. They get to zip-line before eating their meal. Joe notices an immunity idol clue in Carolyn’s bottle and he gets her to hand it to him without her knowing there’s a clue inside it. He gets it while chugging the bottle, but Tyler notices. The next morning, Joe and Tyler go to look for the immunity idol together. However, Mike is already awake and sees them, so he goes follow them. Tyler doesn’t want to alienate himself from the blue collar workers, so he and Mike talk alone and he tells Mike what the clue said. As this is going on, Joe goes to look for the hidden immunity idol and Mike is angry no one was watching him. Mike finds Joe and then decides to tell everyone Joe found it, even though he didn’t. Joe then goes along with pretending to have the hidden immunity idol.

Meanwhile, Dan talks to Shirin about how it’s baffling how a super fan aligned with the smaller alliance. He says she cannot do basic math and insults her as Shirin sits back and says nothing. Later on, Mike finds the hidden immunity idol and breaks down in tears when he does. He doesn’t tell anyone about finding it.

Immunity challenge time. They must maneuver a puzzle piece through multiple puzzle-like mazes and then use that puzzle piece to solve a slide puzzle. Dan thinks he has it done twice, but is incorrect both times. Instead, it is Joe who solves the puzzle correctly first. Joe wins immunity.

They return to camp. Shirin is disappointed that she lost and hopes to win a challenge someday. She doesn’t think she’s a threat, so she hopes she won’t be targeted tonight. The blue collar workers (as well as Tyler and Carolyn) talk about whom to vote out. They want Shirin gone, but they’re worried about a possible idol from the white collar camp. Dan worries Shirin may have it, but he doesn’t know Carolyn is the one who has it. Meanwhile, Dan’s misogyny has bothered the girls and they want him gone. Sierra is even willing to flip to get rid of him, but they need one more vote. Shirin approaches Tyler, and he hints that he’s open to the idea.

Tribal Council time. Jeff talks to the tribe and they all know anything can happen tonight. Dan says that flippers never win, and Shirin strongly disagrees and mentions how Tony won the game when he flipped numerous times. Shirin thinks Dan is just using this as a scare tactic against his alliance.

It’s time for the vote. By a vote of 7-4, Hali is voted out and the first member of the jury.

And that wraps up another episode of Survivor: Worlds Apart. Thanks for reading and come back next week for another live recap.
