Songland Spoilers: Boyz II Men Episode 7 – Meet the Songwriters!

Songland season 2 continues with guest artists, 90s R&B group, Boyz II Men. Helping the act find their next great song among four undiscovered songwriters will be returning panelists members Ryan Tedder, Shane McAnally and Ester Dean. In the episode, the team will help the fledgeling tunesmiths shape and produce their songs for a final performance in front of the artist, who will choose the winning song to record.

Upcoming artists featured in season 2 include: Ben Platt, Bebe Rexha and Usher.

One of Songland’s virtues is the show’s lack of gimmicky twists. The series returned to NBC for season 2 without any changes at all to its format. However, it seems that even more of the emerging songwriters the show casts already have a long list of credits. This week’s artists include a 38 year old progeny of a legendary gospel family and a DJ/record producer who has worked in the business almost 10 years. 

Charles Infamous

ChrisLee 

Chris Lee is a singer/songwriter and record producer from Essex Fells, NJ. He moved to Los Angeles six months ago to pursue a career in music full time, and is currently working on his debut EP. Bio Instagram Facebook Youtube.

Juan and Lisa Winans 

Yup. Juan is a third generation member of the famed gospel family, the Winans. Mom & Pop Winans are his grandparents. He is the son of Carvin Winans a member of The Winans singing group, discovered by Andrae Crouch in the early 80s. Bebe & CeCe Winans are his uncle and aunt. Juan and his wife Lisa are a team. Juan started with the group Winans Phase 2. Beginning in 2003, he sang background vocals for family members and others including American Idol 3 alum George Huff. Zak Waters 

Zak Waters is a musician, singer-songwriter, DJ, and record producer from Los Angeles. He is also known as Pretty Sister. Zak started in the music biz starting the band Blueskyreality. After the group broke up, he embarked on a solo career.  He released an EP New Normal in 2011. He featured on Madeon’s 2012  “The City”, which charted at No. 20 on the US Hot Dance Club Songs chart. He released  the LP Lip Service in 2013, followed by Now/Later. He collaborated on several projects, including Adventure Club’s  “Fade” and David Solano’s “Unleash (Life In Color 2014)” and Alex Gaudino and Manufactured Superstars’s 2015 single “Lights Go Out.” In early 2019 he said goodbye to Zak Waters and embarked on a new project Pretty Sister, which has released three extended plays; Z Funk Era, Vol. 1 (2018), Poolside Vibe (2019), and 20 (2020).
