The Season 5 So You Think You Can Dance Top 12 hit the road last night, and their first stop was Manchester NH. I was there!
The show is chock full of the awesome dancing we’ve come to expect from SYTYCD. The show was split into two parts. The dancers performed favorite routines, plus individual solos and several group routines. The dancers took the stage in pairs to introduce the routines. The introductions were pretty corny and the dancers delivery was a little canned-sounding, but that’s my only big complaint of the evening.
One running joke had Jeanine and Phillip interrupt the introductions, dressed in their Russian folk dancing garb, ready to go, only to be sent backstage. Finally, the entire cast joined them on stage to do a pretty fabulous Russian flavored group dance. Pretty cool.
Favorite routines like the addiction routine, with Kayla and Kupono, the Travis Wall contemporary, with Jeanine and Brandon, and the Tyce Diorio cancer themed dance were saved for last and got the biggest round of applause. Phillip, Jeanine and Brandon all got standing ovations for their solos.
The night ended with the group dance, “Brand New Day”, and afterward the guy in charge (tour manager?) took the stage to congratulate the dancers and thank the audience for coming. SYTYCDism has a complete set list. Check it out HERE.
