Is Sara Beth Liebe enjoying the press attention she has received after judge Katy Perry “mommy shamed her” then QUITTING the show during Hollywood Week? First she called out Katy for making a joke about having 3 children at 25 years of age. Then in Hollywood she QUIT the show after her solo, saying her kids needed her at home. Now she’s on her Instagram stories insisting that she’s “over it.”
According to the New York Post, Sara Beth said in a recent Instagram story that she’s “not even mad” about Katy’s mom-shaming.
“If you watch my videos, you’d know that I’m not even mad. I’m just trying to do music,” she said in the clip. The singer said her decision to quit American Idol was “not a ploy” and that she was not using it for “15 minutes of fame or whatever the hell everyone is saying.”

“I’m so over it,” she added. “No more.”
She also accused Idol of editing out multiple “standing ovations” that she had received during a performance, calling it “a bit lame.”
But she’s not mad! After her performance the editing made it clear that the judges and the crowd loved her performance. Then she had kind of a breakdown. When elimination time came, she told the judges that she quit because her children needed her.
“This opportunity is really rad, but this is actually gonna be my last performance ’cause my heart’s at home,” she said after her Hollywood Week performance of The Police’s “Roxanne.”
“So I’m gonna get home to my babies. They kinda need me. So thank you,” she added before rushing off the stage. Katy tried to persuade her to stay, but in the end, Sara Beth decided to leave the competition.
She seemed so shook at the prospect of advancing to the Showstopper round, that one wonders if she really just couldn’t handle the pressure. Later, the singer posted her reaction after coming off stage to Instagram, which she described as a panic attack.
Sara Beth Called out Katy Perry for “mom shaming”
During her audition in front of Katy, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, the judges noted Sara Beth’s youthful appearance, agreeing that she looked only 16. When Sara mentioned her three children. Katy jumped out of her seat looking shocked.
”If Katy lays on the table, I think I’m going to pass out,” Sara said. ”Honey, you been laying on the table too much,” Katy replied. After the episode aired, some fans took to social media to call Katy out for being rude and insensitive.
In a Tik Tok clip Sara called Katy out. She explained that American Idol “scouted” her to audition in front of the judges. “At the start of my audition before I sang, I mentioned that I had 3 children and was a young mother and Katy Perry made a joke that wasn’t super kind.”
“It was embarrassing to have that on TV,’ Sara confessed, “And it was hurtful and….that’s that.” She addressed her fellow young mothers next, “I did want to take this opportunity to say that I think that women supporting and uplifting other women is so cool, and I think that mom shaming is super lame.
