So You Think You Can Dance appears to be Canceled
FOX announced premiere dates for the summer 2023 slate of original programming, including Crime Scene Kitchen (May 22), Beat Shazam (May 23), Don’t Forget The Lyrics (May 23), Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars (May 24) and MasterChef (May 24).
Notice what’s NOT on the schedule. So You Think You Can Dance. It appears that FOX has cancelled the series again. The press release states that “additional summer programming to be announced.” But if the show were returning to the schedule, FOX would have already announced the news, and auditions would have been well underway.
Additionally, the network took the So You Think You Can Dance page off the the FOXFLASH press site a few weeks ago. FOX brought back SYTYCD last summer after resting it for two seasons. The ratings were pretty low. But FOX produced the season on the cheap, airing no live episodes. Sadly, one the judges, Stephen “tWitch” Boss died last year. The show also endured a “Me Too” scandal after judge Matt Morrison sent “flirty” DMS to a contestant. The show replaced him with actress Leah Remini. Alexis Warr, who went on to join Dancing with The Stars, won the competition.
FOX also posted premiere dates for mid-season shows: The Masked Singer season 9 season finale will air on Wednesday May 17.
