  1. *rolls eyes*

That’s… kind of incredible. But I guess not surprising. It is the Dawg, after all.

  2. I’d like to think that this is Randy’s way of trying to increase his Twitter followers.

If I’m wrong, then here is proof that Randy really is dumber than a rock. So much for your credibility, dawg.

  3. LOL. Hilariously clueless. Randy, you’re rich one would think so go to your local Bestbuy, Target, Walmart or go online to iTunes or Amazon and you know, buy the nominated artists’ albums and then make your decision based on your own opinions after actually having had HEARD the music. Sheesh. And peeps wonder why mainstream music is in the toilet.

  4. What a doofus. :-D

BTW, if you’re reading this, Randy: Yeah Yeah Yeahs for best alternative album.

  5. I think he’s hilarious. Maybe he’s just trying to attract more twitter followers. :P

  6. twitter is perfect for someone with limited vocabulary like Randy. yeah dawg yeah.

  7. ….he’s not serious, right?

Why didn’t he just call Simon and ask him how to vote?

    ^^Bwah! Nice one.

  8. If I’m wrong, then here is proof that Randy really is dumber than a rock. So much for your credibility, dawg.

LOL For reasons that I cannot now recall, I follow Randy on Twitter. :-) This is not his first credibility-crushing tweet. Just recently, he stole a tweet from Ellen and tweeted it as his own — no RT, retweet, reference, nothing. Then someone called him on it, by tweet, which to his credit, he RT’d (proving, of course, not only his guilt but that he knew how to RT. lol)

    Funny stuff, that Twitter!

  9. Yo, yo, dawg, your tweet is jus’ aw’ight faw me. For me, for you, I would prefer that you just call me up each week and ask me to tell you which AI contestant you should pimp each week. It would make both our lives so much simpler. And molten lava HOT!

  10. Ahhhh. So THIS is why the same and usually wrong people win all of the grammy’s…. they have the wrong people voting!!!

  11. he’s voting on this, so he has to listen to all the material, right? if not, that would be so bad judging…

i guess he just wants to have some people feedback, nothing more.. dawg!

  12. I think maybe he’s just kidding around. Hope so, anyway.

I really don’t think Randy’s dumb. If so, he’s doing pretty good in life for a dumb guy. I think he’s a sweet, genuine person, though he could be more articulate.

  13. Don’t like them, but Gaga and Swift should clean house at the Grammy’
    s. They really took the country by storm

  14. Well…that’s…special.

I can’t argue with who’s winning right now, though. I’d say GaGa is a good vote, and so is MGMT. At least he’s not getting mostly BEP and Ting Tings votes!

  15. umm… wow.

as long as he votes for gaga, ting tings, and taylor swift I won’t hold this against him. However, if he votes for ZBB I will shout at the T.V. TASTELESS! every time he comes on this season.

  16. I’m sorry, but I don’t believe for one minute that he’s seriously going to vote based on what his twitter followers tell him.

I’m sorry, but I don’t believe for one minute that he’s seriously going to vote based on what his twitter followers tell him.

I suspect he has ideas of who he wants to vote for, but wants to see what others think. This is Mr “for you, for me” after all. Plus, he gets attention. Win, win for him.

  18. Uh.. I mean this story is fun and all, but you really think that Randy Jackson doesn’t already own the five best selling albums of the year? He was asking for people’s opinions to get some Twitter buzz going; not because he had never heard the music. Heck, most of those songs he heard live just sitting in his judges chair on Idol results nights.

  19. He was asking for people’s opinions to get some Twitter buzz going; not because he had never heard the music.

Have you seen him on Idol? It’s shocking how many hit records and Grammy nominees he hasn’t heard. I’m quite sure he never bothered the listen to MGMT, The Ting Tings, or any of the Best Alternative albums of the year. Maybe, just maybe, he’s heard some Pheonix, but I doubt the rest.

Given that, I am certain he knew who he wanted to vote for, and wanted some buzz…and to be validated.

  20. Aha,ha,ha,ha,huh, huh, uh,uhhhh!!!…..Seriously hard to stop laugh’in at this once started But COME ON!!If this is in the least serious, it then speaks to why I’ve always felt that he is a very Lazy judge. Does’nt mean he is’nt nice, just “LAZY”. His vocabulary is Lazy and he almost never has anything original to say in his “critques”?
On the other hand, He may just want to see if the general public….or at least his followers agree,or not, with his own assessments. That could be,
if he is smarter than he seems,……. a point to ponder? I cannot imagine that even a lazy voter would actually be that tuned out, so I hope by giving him the benefit of the doubt that he has actually listened to their Abums!!
    So here’s LOOK”IN OUT Dawg, FOR Me,FOR YOU!!!!Ahha,ha,ha.

  21. Have you seen him on Idol? It’s shocking how many hit records and Grammy nominees he hasn’t heard. I’m quite sure he never bothered the listen to MGMT, The Ting Tings, or any of the Best Alternative albums of the year.

I always got the impression that Randy knew more about music than Simon did and generally spotted most of the frontrunners from the start. He’s just not the most eloquent person in the world. I agree with whoever said he’s just trying to get buzz and has probably listened to the albums.

  22. I also think that Randy knows a lot of music, probably more than any of us do. Music is his business and his life. Just because he’s not verbally articulate doesn’t mean he doesn’t know the industry inside and out. Seems to me on the show he knows just about every song, of any genre, that comes up.

He’s played with Santana, Jerry Garcia, and of course Journey. In addition to being a bass player and singer, he’s a “record producer, music manager, and A&R executive.” (I’m getting some help from wiki here for details.) He has won a grammy as a producer.

“In 1985, Keith Richards was asked to provide music for the Whoopi Goldberg comedy vehicle Jumpin’ Jack Flash. Richards assembled an all-star band which included Aretha Franklin on piano and lead vocals and Jackson on bass guitar. This song was the fourth track on Aretha’s 1986 album titled “Aretha.” Jackson can be seen in the song’s video.

In the late 1980s, Jackson was still doing sessions. He was notably on the first solo album by famed session guitarist Steve Lukather.

Jackson was the bass guitarist on the 1991 self-titled Divinyls album (which features the song “I Touch Myself”) as well as featured bassist on several tracks of Tracy Chapman’s 1992 release, Matters of the Heart. He performed on the singles “Bang Bang Bang”, “Open Arms”, and “Dreaming on a World”. That same year, Jackson also played bass on Bruce Springsteen’s hit “Human Touch.”

Jackson has recorded, produced, or toured with many well-known artists and bands, ranging from Mariah Carey (he has worked with her throughout her career, been her musical director for a number of her tours; he has formed part of her band during numerous performances including Live 8 in London in 2005) to *NSYNC, Whitney Houston, (produced) Dionne Farris’ (critically acclaimed debut CD, Wild-Seed Wild-Flower), Céline Dion, Fergie (dating back to her days in Wild Orchid), Stryper, Whitesnake (he took over when former bassist broke his arm for a couple of shows in the late 80s), and Madonna (he played some bass on her album “Like a Prayer” although not on the single of the same name).

Jackson played numerous times in Jean-Luc Ponty’s backing band. His credits as a session musician range from playing with Blue Öyster Cult, Bon Jovi, Michael Bolton, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Billy Cobham, Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, Herbie Hancock, Ernie Isley, Billy Joel, Brent Bourgeois, Journey, Richard Marx, George Michael, Stevie Nicks, Imogen Heap, Bruce Springsteen and Roger Waters to playing at the Grand Ole Opry with The Charlie Daniels Band. His production/songwriting work in the San Francisco Bay Area with Narada Michael Walden and Walter Afanasieff led Jackson to be in demand as a producer as well.”

To say that he is dumb or doesn’t know much about music is wrong, imo. The facts say otherwise. Just because he isn’t a talking head doesn’t mean that he doesn’t know of what he speaks.
