Randy Jackson on Symone Black, Adam Levine, Paula Abdul and Betty Buckly

Randy Jackson called into the Ryan Seacrest radio show to discuss last night’s Idol and his own personal controversies.

On last night’s Hollywood episode, that found a hopeful passed out on the floor at the end of the episode, he said that a crew member dropped his 20k camera to run and help Symone Black break her fall.

Other crazy Hollywood happenings– contestants who had the stomach flue and were spending A LOT of time in the restrooms.

Randy claims that he’s retiring the phrase “In it to Win It”.  Should we celebrate?

Next, Randy addressed the recent controversies he’s been embroiled in lately.  As far as the tiff between Randy and Adam Levine–Randy says he has respect for the Voice, but they are a different kind of show.  Idol, Randy says, has never had a winner with a prior experience in the music business.   Randy says Idol is about finding brand new talent, “Please bring me the first time…the one that  no one knows about.”

But is it really? Idol has a ton of 2nd and third chancers. They also recycle people who have auditioned for Idol multiple times.

Randy has been texting Paula Abdul, who was just fired from X Factor. He was saddened to hear her bad news, but he knows things will turn out OK for her, even if she works for Simon again sometime down the road.

He was very evasive when asked if his good friend Mariah Carey would become and X Factor judge.

Randy says he has loved Betty Buckley since she was on 8 is Enough and can’t BELIEVE she would diss him!
