  1. I am looking forward to Lee’s album, single and future performances even more since the Village Underground performance.

  2. Done! I Got Mine! using mj’s amazon link, and a few extra to give as gifts this Christmas. :)

  3. Did mine this afternoon. But I forgot to link to mj. So sorry mj. I’ll remember the next time.

  4. I already pre ordered this new album from Lee. I’m looking forward to his gig on the 24th at the racetrack too…and a new song- Yay! Lee is a busy guy

  5. Same here. Ordered mine and a few more for family and friends ( specially those from overseas who can’t wait for the international release and wanted Lee’s album on 11/16 too ).
Thanks for the amazon link MJ.

  6. No thank you… since I overseas I think I´ll wait to hear the music first before paying :)

  7. I’m not pre-ordering any of the S9 Idols’ albums. Gonna wait and see what the albums sound like before putting down any $$$ — then if I like any or all of them, I’ll get them.

  8. You can always cancel Amazon pre-orders. I don’t know with itunes.

  9. I’m with Girlygirl with not pre-ordering. My reasons are that I’m not emotionally attached whatsoever to any of them, so I’m not inclined to buy anything from them to support their persons or show faith in their quality of music. So show me the music I like and then I’ll show the money.

  10. Thank you MJ for the post, it is really appreciated.

I’ve pre ordered mine on itunes. I was waiting to see what bonus content would be available but itunes always offers something. Springboard, you can cancel itunes preorders, I’ve done it before.

  11. ^Oh, OK thank you. I want to buy from Itunes, but they often have two editions, and I wanted to be able to chose. Going to pre-order now using MJ’s link :)

  12. No problem :) I’ll switch to the deluxe version too if there ends up being one. But this way we should still get the pre order or exclusive bonus track or whatever it is they choose to call it!

  13. Done. Ordered 4 of them from Amazon to give out as Holiday gifts. Anything to help Lee, and I have complete faith that his album will not disappoint me. :)

  14. Ordered through mj’s amazon link. MJ, typo above on release date, should be Nov. 16. Thanks for the post!

  15. Not a big fan, but I’ll sample individual Lee songs when they come out and see.

  16. tigervixxxen. what is a deluxe version? why 2 versions of the same album?

  17. iTunes lists Lee’s album release date as 10/26/10. Amazon as 11/16/10. The 19 PR material says 11/16/10. Looks like it will be 11/16/10 to me.

I bought 3 AI8 albums on presale — only played 1 of them more than once — and that one I wore out. (I also bought Sarver’s album after it came out to support him. Haven’t actually played it all the way through but I am not a country music fan.)

What I have purchased from past seasons and enjoyed are authorized pre-Idol indie albums — so I own and like both of Matt Giraud’s albums. Did not find any AI9 pre-idol releases that appealed to me.

In any case, I will wait this year to hear what they put out since the 19R album are often disappointing. I am most interested in hearing Crystal’s album — and I am most likely to buy hers of anyone from AI9.

  18. I have cancelled some pre-orders in the past after listening to snippets of the album tracks.

  19. Have preorder from Itunes and Amazon using MJ’s links! Nice to be able to support Lee and my favorite idol blog!

  20. Way ahead of you guys… just pre-ordered Lee’s 2nd album.

    Damn, you’re good!

  21. tigervixxxen. what is a deluxe version? why 2 versions of the same album?

A deluxe album has additional content such as music videos, acoustic versions, live tracks or just extra bonus songs. It is a recent trend to offer a digital deluxe version and charge a few extra dollars and then to have a cheaper standard album. We won’t know what exactly they are going to offer for Lee until the release the details of the track listing. Though at a $11.99 price point on itunes right now seems like there will be at least some bonus track or preorder song offered. They like to keep their bare bones albums at $9.99. No idea if there will be a a separate version of the record at a later time or not, so we’ll see!

  22. Latest updates from @LetsDothis4Lee

@LeeDeWyze is at #151 on the iTunes Bestsellers (all music)!!

    Amazon Bestsellers: #21,
    Amazon M&S: #3,
    iTunes Pop Charts #19

  23. I’ve never really seen the point in pre-order – I won’t even pre-order Crystal’s and everyone knows I’ll be buying that, lol. For those who buy through iTunes you can get it the moment it’s available – won’t sell out like an album could in the store. I do realize that some people pre-order on Amazon and they’ll ship it out so it actually arrives the day it goes on sale…at least I think so.

Is pre-ordering something that the labels do to gauge interest in the album before it’s ever going to be released – in other words, to decide how much promo to give an album or singles off that album? Seems to me that’d be a good tactic for them…if there’s not much buzz about the album during pre-order, they could then just save their money unless something happens to increase interest. Of course by that point the album is already made too so maybe they might promote MORE if it doesn’t gather much pre-order interest. I dunno.

  24. I was planning on buying Lee’s album when it came out. This may be a stupid question, but wouldn’t it be better for him to have all these sales and all this buzz the day/week his album actually drops? Just curious.

  25. Itunes usually offers an exclusive pre order bonus track, or at least has been standard practice with Idols, so for someone who is a completest having that one extra track does matter. And also like you said pre ordering usually guarantees early shipping and a lower price point on the Amazon CDs. The reason why it makes sense from the label perspective is to convert a sale when the customer is interested and aware of the product, to make sure they commit up front. I could see them doing some numbers watching of pre orders and probably would invest in promoting an album that is showing some interest. If pre order sales were slow maybe the label would have some forewarning about impending sales issues and think of other tactics but ultimately I don’t see they’d increase the promo budget in that scenario.

Poster, pre order sales will count toward first week sales so there is no issue there. But yes, some of the upwards chart movement now will be taken away from the momentum on the day of release. I guess it is a trade off to make a little buzz and exposure now off of the guaranteed buzz and exposure from the record drop. I’m betting a lot of fans will still pick something up on the day of the release anyhow because that is how Idol fans roll. lol. Obviously not everyone is going to buy multiple copies but either now or later probably won’t make a big difference.

  26. Thanks, tigervixxen. I’m constantly learning things from this blog!

  27. Just bought mine! Now I can count down the days until I can listen to it!

  28. I was planning on buying Lee’s album when it came out. This may be a stupid question, but wouldn’t it be better for him to have all these sales and all this buzz the day/week his album actually drops? Just curious.

I believe that the sales he’s getting right now for the pre-orders will count towards his first week sales. I remember when Danny’s album became available for presale, he stayed in and out of the Top 200 overall albums chart on Itunes for while. And when it got really close to the release date of his album, he went up to like the 30’s on Itunes.

Once the release date came, his album shot up quickly to #3 on the overall albums chart on Itunes. I think that was because all of the sales he got from the preorders were factored in and helped him out in rank. I saw the same thing happen with other albums around that time, which had been available for preorders.

I think that the preorders Lee gets now on Itunes, will definitely be factored in for his first week sales, and will possibly help his rank, once the release date of his album comes.

  29. Is pre-ordering something that the labels do to gauge interest in the album before it’s ever going to be released – in other words, to decide how much promo to give an album or singles off that album?

Well,I can tell you this..back when David C’s album was up for pre-order I had a friend who worked in Best Buy. He had told me around the time of the album drop that the store had doubled what they originally ordered of the CD because they heard a couple of weeks before that it has huge pre-sales. IIRC a week later HDD had a blurb saying RCA expected huge first week numbers because of “massive pre-orders” so I’m sure to some extent labels and probably even stores do have interest in pre-orders. I recall blurbs about Adam’s high pre-orders last year too. Back in my Claymate days I remember someone saying stores sometimes kept track of the Amazon best seller list to gauge interest. IMO it does make a difference in helping increase buzz which is why for people I REALLY like I always pre-order.

  30. Itunes usually offers an exclusive pre order bonus track, or at least has been standard practice with Idols, so for someone who is a completest having that one extra track does matter.

I pre-ordered Kris Allen’s album on Itunes through their season Pass. Never Again! The Live Like We’re Dying single did not download until 2-3 days after the official release. The CD cover wasn’t even the one from the album. I am not sure if Itunes, American Idol, or Jive Records was to blame but never again.

  31. They seem to have scrapped season passes all together. Wasn’t a bad idea but obviously lacked in execution. It was nice getting a few videos from the Idol tour but I was surprised it didn’t even include the video for LLWD.

  32. Have they announced a singles release date yet? (Sorry if this is old news, I haven’t had time to keep up with the site/news)

  33. lizland, there hasnt been an official announcement of the single release but Lee did confirm on twitter that he will be singing a new song at his Arlington Park concert on the 24th. Considering the single release dates of past Idol winners..we’re thinking it’s likely that Lee’s new single will also be released on that day :)

    News from twitter…

    @ainow RT @HerbAINow
Just checked with Team @LeeDeWyze – still will be a few weeks until first single is chosen.

Not sure what they mean by a few weeks? Hopefully soon!

And also not sure if that means no new song at Arlington!

  35. Anyone have any new numbers? Lee is #75 in itunes/Pop/Canada. I didn’t think there was much push in Canada, but nice to see things happening here as well :)

  36. yeh lmkhemari..saw that and hoping they dont actually mean ‘few weeks’!
Well on Amazon, Lee is currently holding at #20 on Music Bestsellers and still 3rd in Movers and Shakers :)

  37. RT @DweezySignal: Lee is reportedly singing 3 songs from Slumberland & a new one song (a folksy rock song) at his AP Show next week.

Can’t see this anywhere on the blog though Mj retweeted it an hour ago. Great the original is still on for Arlington!
