Nigel Lythgoe has started a new production company, Nigel Lythgoe Productions. A joint venture with Idol’s 19 Entertainment, through the new company, Nigel has projects “in various stages of development” at E!, TruTV and CBS, among other networks, including reality shows with heavy metal icon Alice Cooper, Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin, sex and relationship expert Dr. Laura Berman and executive producer Kim Kardashian.
Previously announced reality projects in the works: an adapted game show pilot at CBS, Secret Fortune, which will be hosted by Donny Osmond; and a Partridge Family-esque singing competition show, We Are Family, in development at the CW.
“Audiences want to feel emotionally invested in what they are watching in the purest sense, ” says Nigel, “and NLP will cater to that desire.”
You know, I was just thinking? We just don’t have enough Kardashians on my TV! Sooner or later, that family will go the way of Paris Hilton and Heidi and Spencer. Thanks a bunch for stalling that process Nigel!
