Nigel Lythgoe called into the Ryan Seacrest radio show this morning with a few interesting tidbits about tonight’s show.
Jeff Beck was set to play guitar with the Top 9 tonight, but had to cancel due to illness. Fleetwood Mac guitarist, Lindsey Buckingham was on board to take his place, as you will hear in Nigel’s interview. But Ryan Seacrest’s production peeps tweeted an update–Lindsey won’t be available either.
The kids will be performing tonight without a superstar guitarist. OH WELL.
When asked why the girls have quickly dropping off Idol, Nigel says that while the girls have good voices, the guys are “quite unique” in their styles.
Nigel says for the first time ever, he can’t predict a Top 3.
In other last-minute Idol news, Interscopepromo tweeted that Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic will be a “special guest mentor” on Idol tonight as the kids tackle songs that shaped Rock & Roll from the Rock and Roll Hall of fame exhibit.
