UPDATE: According to a tweet from the Rock Hall, song choices will be based on the “Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll” exhibit. Here is a list of 500 songs put together by the Hall with help from music critics and writers. It might changed your picks slightly. Oh, and I totally forgot about what a bitch Van Morrison is about clearing his songs (Although he did clear a song once-Jon Peter Lewis’ audition of “Crazy Love”)
The American Idol 10 Top 9 sing songs from The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame this week. The song list should provide a little something for everybody–inductees are chosen from all genres that fed into rock music, including country, blues, R&B and pop.
I made my picks assuming the song list will be culled from the performers inducted into the Rock Hall. Here’s the list.
What do you think the Idols should sing this week?
Revised List:
- Pia Toscano – Pia spoiled herself. She’ll be singing “River Deep Mountain High” by Ike and Tina Turner. I’m looking forward to see what she does with this. I hope the UMG producers don’t screw up the arrangement. Just say no to the disco version, Pia.
- Scotty McCreery – Johnny Cash, “I Walk the Line” – Seems almost inevitable…
- James Durbin – AC/DC, “Back in Black” – Rawk on!
- Casey Abrams – Sam Cooke, “You Send Me” – Could see Casey with the upright on this one.
- Haley Reinhart – The Rolling Stones, “Time Is on My Side” – Keep going with the gender switch–a bluesy version of this tune could be a hit.
- Jacob Lusk – Al Green, “Let’s Stay Together” – Dial it waayyy back and show us what you’ve got, Jacob.
- Stefano Langone – The Young Rascals, “Groovin'” – Some blue-eyed soul from Stefano.
- Paul McDonald – The Flying Burrito Brothers, “Sin City” or Randy Newman, “Sail Away” – Americana all the way!
- Lauren Alaina – Patsy Cline, “I Fall to Pieces” – Could be a showcase for Lauren’s big voice.
