IT’S FINALLY HERE! American Idol winner Nick Fradiani released his post-show debut, Hurricane, on Big Machine Records today. HOORAY. Nick co-wrote every track on the set except one–his coronation single, “Beautiful Life”.

“I know it was a long wait, but it’s here!” said Nick in a twitter message to fans, “It’s not easy writing and recording a full length album, but I’m so happy with ‘Hurricane.’ I worked hard on it, and I hope all of you who have stuck by me and supported me enjoy it. You all are the reason today is possible for me, so THANK YOU. You changed my life once with your votes and love on American Idol, and again today by giving me this opportunity to release my music. Love you guys.”

La’Porsha Renae – Battles (Gold Medal Mix)

American Idol 15 runner-up, La’Porsha Renae, is receiving the Phillip Phillips gold star Olympic treatment! Her coronation single, “Battles” has been re-recorded and will be used during the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics as the theme song for the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Team.

Yeah. Just like Phillip’s coronation song “Home” was used during the London Olympics women’s gymnastics coverage in 2012. The TV exposure shot the song to the top of the charts and made it the best selling Idol single ever.

“I wasn’t even the winner of the show,” La’Porsha recently said to Billboard magazine, “so I felt very honored to be afforded this opportunity.” The song will appear on the singer’s debut album, set for release in November.

“Battles” has a tragic backstory. Big Machine Records songwriter Fancy wrote it as a tribute to the late Simone Battles, an X Factor contestant and former G.R.L. member who committed suicide in September 2014.

There’s a streamable version on Apple Music if you’ve got that. Otherwise, check out a clip at the iTunes store.

The Voice 8 singer Mia Z released a live album last month, the self-titled Mia Z to coincide with her tour opening for winner Sawyer Fredericks. Unfortunately, her mother is dealing with a health issue and the 16 year old had to drop off the tour.

In the meantime, if you’re hankering for some LIVE Mia Z you can download the set–a mix of blues and jazz tunes–from iTunes or Amazon and/or stream it on Spotify.
