X Factor’s Alex & Sierra Release “Toxic” Music Video

Three years ago the duo Alex & Sierra won the third and final season of X Factor USA. After the singer/songwriting duo released their debut album It’s About Us in the fall of 2014, and embarked on a promotional tour, the couple laid low. That is, until now. The singers–Alex Kinsey and Sierra Deaton–are finally getting ready to release a new EP, As Seen on TV, which will feature three original songs and five new covers culled from their run on X Factor.

The couple have released an official video of their new version of Britney Spears’ “Toxic,” the song that grabbed fans’ attention on X Factor.

“The [EP] title is a playful tribute to how most people know us. The album is a nice way to bring our fans with us as we move forward,” Alex shared with Yahoo Music in an exclusive interview. “We’ve grown a lot in the last few years.”

“’Toxic’ is one of those songs that we’ve sung countless times but will never get old, because it was the catalyst of our musical journey together. It will always be really special to us and we’re over the moon to finally share a full version with the world,” Sierra said, adding, “We wanted this video to reflect our interpretation of the song, which is quite darker than the original performance. We knew we wanted something a little odd to happen throughout. There’s also dancing. Yes. Dancing. Relationships can be a lot like dancing; there are twists and turns, it can move slow, it can move fast, it can be chaotic, it can be romantic, you can be close, you can be far… and all the while, be loving it. So we thought that a video of us dancing, interspersed with us performing while a strange dark growth spreads on our bodies, could describe a poisonous couple perfectly.”

As Seen on TV comes out September 30, and is available for pre-order Friday, Aug. 5.
