NBC sets 2023 fall schedule with The Voice 24 expanded hours, America’s Got Talent finale latest date ever

NBC kicks off its 2023-24 fall schedule on Sept. 25 with season 24 of The Voice. The combination of the WGA (writers) and SAG-Aftra (actors) strikes are complicating the network’s fall schedules. As a result, look for more hours of reality and game show programming.

For instance, the America’s Got Talent finale will air a week later in the fall than it usually does–on Tuesday September 26 and Wednesday September 27. Although, the six week live show schedule matches what the Simon Cowell helmed series has set in the past.

Also, beginning on Tuesday October 3, NBC will SUPERSIZE The Voice. On October 3, NBC will air a 2 hour episode of the show. Beginning October 10, NBC will air a one hour recap at 8 pm of the performance episode from the previous night, followed by a NEW 1 hour episode at 9 pm. Originally, The Voice was scheduled for a 1 hour time slot at 9 pm, surrounded by scripted shows Night Court, Extended Family and Quantum Leap. A series, Found, that has completed filming will take the place of Quantum Leap.

The Voice season 24 features host Carson Daly and coaches John Legend, Gwen Stefani, Reba McEntire and Niall Horan. Host Terry Crews and judges Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell will crown an America’s Got Talent season 18 winner on Wednesday September 27.

Game, reality and variety shows are not covered by the unions that are currently on strike, allowing non-scripted shows like The Voice, Dancing with the Stars, and America’s Got Talent to move forward.
