Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Sep 12-18

No milestones this week, but One Direction did return to the top 30 with the debut single from their fifth (and final?) album. “Made in the A.M.” was their first post Zayn album and they opened it with “Drag Me Down”. The song has been out for over a year, but it is still on the charts on AC. The song peaked earlier in that format at 29 and this week, it returned to the top 30.

On the album front, Jason Aldean has the number one album of the week with “They Didn’t Know”. He sold 138K equivalent albums and 131K in pure album sales. This is his third consecutive number one album.

Interestingly, this is the first time since 2001 that hasn’t seen a Country album top the BB200 until Q4 (this chart’s date will be in October). I blame Drake. He would not get off the top of the chart with his stellar streaming numbers. Pop and Urban fans stream. Speaking of Drake, he is number 2 on this week’s chart. The Beatles achieve their 32nd top 10 album.
