Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Oct 10-16

Four milestones this week from the Mediabase airplay charts.

Idol’s third winner was Fantasia and she has become a staple on UAC. “Sleeping with the One I Love” is her latest single and it goes top 10 in that format.

Fifth Harmon are from the X-Factor US division and they are working their second album. “That’s My Girl” is their third single from “7/27” and the third single from that album to go at least top 30 on Pop.

From the UK franchise of the same show, we have Niall Horan. Like the members of Fifth Harmony, he auditioned as a solo artist only to be put into what went on to be a successful group. He is now launching his solo career with “This Town” and it just went top 50 on HAC. On that front, expect more grumpy tweets from Simon Cowell as Niall’s bandmate Liam Payne signs with Republic.

Finally, we have Lindsey Stirling from America’s Got Talent. This violinist is creating her own genre blending classical music with electro dance music. Her latest single is “Something Wild” and it is top 30 on HAC.

On the album front, Green Day debuts their third number one album. Their previous number one records were in 2009 and 2004/2005. Interestingly, OneRepublic gets its highest ranking on the chart at number 3 (I would have thought they had done this or better in the past).
