Monday Morning Mediabase Update – Nov 7-13

Four milestones to discuss this week on the chart – and Pentatonix is still in the top 10!

Niall Horan doubles down on the milestones this week. This former One Directioner (although they still claim they are on a hiatus) from the X-Factor is working his debut solo single. “This Town” has gone top 15 on Pop this week and top 30 on HAC.

Camila Cabello, member of Fifth Harmony also from the X-Factor, has a song out with MGK. “Bad Things” ascended to top 30 on Pop.

Penatonix won The Sing Off and extended their time in the limelight through innovative videos and arrangements. They are now bonafide stars and regularly compete for the album of the Holiday season. This year, they are getting an early jump on getting a song from their Christmas album on the radio. We haven’t even hit Thanksgiving and their cover of “Hallelujah” vaults onto the AC chart. Now, “Hallelujah” isn’t much of a Christmas song, but they sound great. Whether the song has legs or it is just a post-Leonard Cohen bump remains to be seen. Pentatonix album sees a 13% increase and moves up to 4th on the chart. Their previous album sees a 73% bump.

Bon Jovi earns their 6th number one album. They earned that almost entirely on album sales which were helped with a concert ticket/album sale promotion. Voice coach Alicia Keys tags in for second. “Trolls” flies up to third – whether that is due to the movie coming out or it is just a post-Trump-wins bump is up for debate.
