Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Dec 1-8

We celebrate a half-dozen Milestones this Monday Morning with half of those coming on AC. Country, CAC and HAC contribute the other 3. We currently have 4 songs from Reality Singing stars in the top 10 across three charts.

Scotty McCreery notches his second top 10 single for his second album. “Feelin’ It” is kind of a Summery song, but maybe that’s what one wants to hear in the cold-dark heart of December. It’s like during the oppressive heat of the Depression summers. Hollywood made a bunch of movies about Canada because, apparently, watching snow makes you feel colder. Those movies are one of the sources for the sterotype of Canada being completely frozen over all year long. So, Scotty is doing his part to keep heating costs down by making us feel like it’s summer.

Not helping us think it’s summer? Pentatonix and Kelly Clarkson. Pentatonix is scaling two charts with three songs. “Mary, Did You Know” reaches the top 50 on both the AC and CAC charts. Meanwhile, “That’s Christmas to Me” (title track to their new Christmas album) climbes into the top 15 on AC. Reaching top 5 on AC is Kelly Clarkson’s title track “Wrapped in Red”.

Ella Henderson seems to have a milestone just about every week and this week is no differnt. “Ghost” might seem to have a Halloween-ish sounding title, but Christmas is its season. Her debut single reaches top 15 on HAC while making some strong chart gains on Pop.
