Monday Morning Mediabase 06/05/2017

There are nine milestones to report on the Monday Mediabase report this first week of June.

The former 1D boys combine for a total of 5 milestones. Niall Horan was one of the feature acts at the Manchester One Love concert yesterday. One of the songs he performed was his second single “Slow Hands”. The single doubled down on milestones this week going top 20 in both Pop and HAC. The song is currently in the top 10 on iTunes.

Liam Payne was the last of the 1D boys to release his debut single, but no moss is growing on “Strip that Down”. It has three milestones this week reaching top 30 on Pop, moving into top 40 on Rhythmic and debuting on HAC. Quavo, who is everywhere, and Ed Sheeran, who writes songs for everyone, are featured on the track (Ed Sheeran is the deep monotonous and unnecessary, IMO, voice).

Speaking of people formally members of quintets, Camila Cabello is going the solo route with her debut single “Crying in the Club”. No tears for this former Fifth Harmony member as her debut song is performing strongly on Pop and is top 50 on Rhythmic.

Jennifer Hudson is starting off a new era with “Remember Me”. With the second highest spincrease on the chart, “Remember Me” moves from top 50 to top 20 on AC this week.

Two Season 8 Idols make milestones on the CAC chart this week. Jasmine Murray who was 12th or 13th that year gets her first top 10 on radio with “Fearless”. Meanwhile, Danny Gokey who was third goes top 20 with “The Comeback”. His previous single “Rise” went to number one on the chart.

BB reports the Bryson Tiller archives his first number one on the BB200 chart. The Beatles return “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” to heights it hasn’t achieved since Desc 30, 1967 – 50 years ago. Harry Style’s album continues in the top 10.
