Just one milestone this week to end the month of January.
Lauren Spencer-Smith debut her single “Fingers Crossed” on Pop three weeks ago and now it is debuting in a new format. Set to go for adds today, the single has already debuted on the HAC chart. Lauren appeared on the 2020 edition of American Idol where performances were recorded at home due to COVID. Since then, she has continued to work social media resulting in this single.
On the BB200, Morgan Wallen’s “Dangerous: The Double Album” remains at number 5. This week, it moves an equivalent of 41K (-1% from last week). The album has spent 54 non-consecutive weeks in the BB200 top 10 slipping past Shania Twain’s “Come on Over” with 53 weeks. Amongst Country albums, only Taylor Swift’s “Fearless” with 58 non-consecutive weeks has more. Billboard goes onto note that the album has spent the most weeks in the top 10 for any album released by a male artist since 2000 (Ed Sheeran’s “÷”) spent 53 weeks. It is fourth most amongst all albums (Adele’s “21” spend 84 weeks, Taylor Swift’s “1989” spent 59 weeks and “Fearless” spent 58 weeks). Those previous albums were from before streaming counted, but streaming wasn’t really a major factor when those albums were released either. Streaming has eclipsed other formats of consuming music, so it cannot be discounted, but it also muddies “airplay” and “purchases”.
