Luke Bryan Invited American Idol Friends to “Crash” his Playa!

An American Idol reunion took place on the final night of Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa concert on Sunday Night (Jan 22). The epic reunion took place during the 8th annual event at Moon Palace Cancún in Mexico. Both fellow judge Lionel Richie and Season 19 winner Chayce Beckham took the stage to sing with Luke on a night dubbed “Luke Bryan & Friends.”

A rousing set of classic Lionel Richie hits

First, Luke took the stage with his buddy Lionel. “Welcome to the stage, one of music’s biggest icons that have ever lived, one of the greatest human beings that have ever lived, and one of my best friends in the world…” Luke said by way of introduction before singing a medley of Lionel’s biggest hits with the icon.

The long set opened with “Easy Like Sunday Morning.” Luke introduced “Stuck on You,” saying “If you can’t get laid tonight, you ain’t getting laid!” The audience sang along throughout the enthusiastic set. The two also sang “Lady (You Bring Me Up), a rousing version of “Dancing on the Ceiling,” “Brick House,” and the big closer, “All Night Long.”

Afterward, Lionel posted a few photos on Instagram with the caption, “La Playa has officially been crashed! Joining @lukebryan on his stage in Mexico was crazy and out of control fun!! Love u man!”

Chayce Beckham and Luke Bryan covered Kenny Chesney, Chayce performed his “new” single “23”

Right after Lionel’s set, Luke introduced Chayce. “Welcome back to the stage, my buddy, Mr. Chayce Beckham. It’s time we play whatever the hell we want,” Bryan told the crowd. The two then launched into a cover of Kenny Chesney’s “When the Sun Goes Down.”

Afterward, Chayce sang his 2021 American Idol winners single, “23” which incredibly, went to radio this week. The 2021 song has amassed over 67 million streams on Spotify. The singer-songwriter introduced the self-penned song saying, “Thanks everybody who’s been streaming this song so much, we got to take it to country radio.

Later, on Instagram, Chayce wrote alongside a clip, “@crashmyplaya was an absolute blast and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate 23 going to radio than this. Thanks @lukebryan for always pulling my a__ out on stage, and for having me out this past week. Can’t wait for what’s ahead. #crashmyplaya.”
