Kris Allen Announces Album “Horizon” Set for August 12 Release

Kris Allen, took to Instagram today to announce the name and release date of his long-awaited 3rd studio album!

Horizons is set for an August 12 release from the American Idol season 8 winner. Kris spent time in the studio earlier this year in Nashville with producer Charlie Peacock, who also helmed award winning albums by the Civil Wars.

“When the time is right I will let you in on the name of the album,” the singer said in a recent blog post, ” but I’ll tell you that it was just a word that kept coming up in relation to the music that I was making. I had no idea what it meant and how it pertained, but it stuck. Now I feel like it means so much and makes absolute sense.”

“I thought I had good songs before,” Kris said about writing in Nashville, in an interview with USA Today, “but I spent a week here and wrote two songs a day, pretty much.”

“We’re trying to give Kris a different experience, experimenting, playing in the sandbox,” Peacock said of the recording process. “For right now, it’s just playing and seeing what you can come up with.”

During an internet chat with fans, Kris called the tunes he wrote for Horizon, the next step in the growth of his songwriting.
