Kris Allen Teams Up With Award Winning Producer for Next Album

In a Facebook chat with fans, Kris Allen revealed details about his 3rd studio album. While Kris has yet to sign with a new label since he parted ways with RCA in late 2012, it hasn’t stopped him from plans to drop his 3rd studio album sometime this year.

Kris will work with one producer this time. The big reveal is he’ll be collaborating with Charlie Peacock, who produced critically acclaimed albums for the Nashville duo, the Civil Wars. Their 2011 debut album, Barton Hollow, reached No. 12 on the Billboard 200 and sold 800,000 copies. The release won 2 Grammy Awards in 2012–for Best Folk Album and Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

The American Idol season 8 winner is recording in Nashville now, and expects to be finished by the end of the month. In his chat, Kris was enthusiastic about what’s ahead. He looks forward to recording great songs–most of which were written in Nashville–with creative production. He calls the set the next step in the growth of his songwriting.

The singer plans to tour this year with basically the same lineup, but with possibly a new face.

Kris has also written a few songs for the independent film, Valley Inn, an Arkansas based production. The theme song was written with actress Mary Steenburgen.

The chat kicked off the #IdolBlitz Idol alum fan chats, scheduled to promote the upcoming season of American Idol. Check out the schedule HERE.
