Kelly Clarkson: Next Record “Most Personal I’ve Ever Released” (VIdeo)

Kelly Clarkson filed for divorce from her husband of almost 7 years, Brandon Blackstock back in June. She has kept mum on the unexpected split. But now, the American Idol OG winner, The Voice coach and Emmy winning talk show host has sat down for an interview with Sunday Today’s Willie Geist. Considering the preview, it looks like Kelly will finally open up on the emotional rollercoaster her life has been these past few months.

Kelly’s next album will be her most personal yet

In any case, the singer reveals that her upcoming album will be all about the rise and fall of her relationship with Brandon.

“This will probably be the most personal one I’ve ever released,” Kelly said of her upcoming album. “The whole record is basically every emotion you experience from the beginning of a relationship to the end of what it is now.” She added, “It’s been very therapeutic for me.”

Kelly remarks on how strange it for her kids to sing along to lyrics, seemingly about the painful breakup with their father. “There’s one that my kids sing in the car because I’m going through mixes and I’m just like, this is weird!” Kelly added, “I’ve never written about my life to where my kids are singing along.” Kelly said they have no idea what they are singing along to. “No! They’re four and six and so, that’s a little different…it is what it is!”

Kelly’s children are her daughter River Rose and Remington, respectively. The entire family began quarantining together in the family’s one room unfinished cabin on their Montana ranch in April. By June, she and her husband split and she was back in her Los Angeles home, taping her talk show.

Coming up for Kelly

The second season of The Kelly Clarkson Show will bring Kelly back to her Universal Studio set beginning September 21. She’ll host the Billboard Music Awards on October 14. And, The Voice season 19 kicks of on October 19.
