Kelly Clarkson performed a very emotional rendition of “It’s Quiet Uptown” from the Hamilton Mixtape. The new record is a collection of songs from the smash Broadway musical, Hamilton interpreted by today’s pop artists.

Before she performed, Kelly explained to hosts Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie how she recorded the song while pregnant with her son, Remy. The song details the grief after Hamilton’s teenage son die and hit especially close to home for Kelly.
