When Kelly Clarkson announced a Today Show appearance set for September 8, fans speculated the American Idol OG singer would premiere a new single.
Finally, the singer made it official. On Sunday the Kelly tweeted a 15 second tease with the date “September 7.”
Rumor has it (thanks to Kelly fan Heartly for keeping us up to date in comments!) the single is called “Love So Soft.”

Last year, after Kelly’s contract with Sony ended, she signed with Atlantic records, a label with a long history of legendary soul artists. “Love So Soft” is the first single off of the highly anticipated first album from Atlantic. And more rumors: Reportedly the album is titled Meaning of Life and will be released on October 27.
Atlantic appealed to Kelly because they promised to allow her to explore “All the colors in my voice,” she said in her Facebook announcement. “I love the country side of me, and I love the Broadway side of me. I love the pop side of me and the soulful side…they are down to make whatever record I’m into. Which is real rare.”
Needless to say, fans can hardly wait for Kelly to reveal her new musical direction.
In addition to performing on the Today Show on Friday, Kelly is also reportedly co-hosting and performing during the 10-11 hour. Also, Kelly is set to perform at Boston’s 104.1 MixFest on September 16, so there’s a radio tour happening as well.
