Kelly Clarkson and Pink 2017 American Music Awards Performances (VIDEO)

The 2017 American Music Awards opened with words from actor Jamie Foxx who paid tribute to first responders who faced the violent events of the past year, helping to save lives.

That brief intro cued the opening performance. For the first time ever, two female powerhouse singers, Kelly Clarkson and Pink joined forces to sing an impassioned version of REM’s classic “Everybody Hurts.” It was way too much awesomeness for a single stage. Watch the performance here.

But these ladies were just warming up. In a spectacular staged number, strong>Pink sang “Beautiful Trauma” from the top of the JW Marriott, in a harness. She scaled the hi-rise hotel while SINGING into a headset. She had a male dancer up there with her too. It wasn’t enough to just twirl in the air on her own. The athletic singer performed choreographed dance moves with a group of aerialists. Amazing. Watch the performance here.

And then later in the broadcast, American Idol OG winner and The Voice coach Kelly Clarkson brought the house down with a medley of hits that included the classic “Miss Independence” and the latest “Love So Soft.” The Queen, draped in feathers, showed er’body how it’s done. Since she extracted herself from Sony’s clutches, girlfriend has been feeling free. And it shows. Watch the performance here.
