You know those recent rumors about David Hasselhoff joining Katy Perry on the American Idol judges panel? In a recent interview with SiriusXM Morning Mash Up, the singer shadily squashed those reports.
When asked if the former Baywatch star and America’s Got Talent judge would be joining the show her answer was a straight up “WHAT!!!???!!”
“This is what I’m hearing!” the DJ responded. “Is it true?”
“Uh. I’ve not heard that actually,” Katy said, choosing her words somewhat carefully. “I know that there’s some people that are in play, and David’s not necessarily been one of them, God bless.” Ooooh. Do we have a little bit of passive aggressive snark going on there? Katy continues, “I think it’s got to be people that…you respect…in the music industry…people that you go ‘yeah they have something to contribute’ as far as constructive criticism.”
So there you have it. Hasselhoff’s people can reach out, but I doubt seriously American Idol is going to bite. Remember: Contractually, both Katy and Ryan have a say on who else joins the panel.

On whether she was excited about judging American Idol when it returns to television on ABC in 2018, Katy said:
“Absolutely. I love American Idol because it feels like its the one show that’s left that actually produces talent and gives people the opportunity to make their dreams come true. I can name real stars that come off of that show and are working. Their lives have actually changed. I’m all for that. It’s kind of a…pay it forward moment. I have my own little mini-label that I love. I’ve signed a couple of artists. I love giving them that opportunity to shine, and so…that’s what I’m looking forward to the most if finding raw talent. I know that’s really hard to find these day. Usually everyone just signs up on Youtube. I know we’re going to find something interesting.
