American Idol alum and The Bold Type star Katie Stevens welcomed her first baby with her husband Paul DiGiovanni, the couple confirmed on Monday, March 20.
The two welcomed a baby girl, daughter Rome, on Thursday, Feb. 23.
“She’s here 2.23.23,” Katie captioned a gallery of photos on Instagram. “Our sweet Rome, we are so in love with you.”
The couple first revealed their pregnancy news at the CMA Awards in November, where Katie showed off her baby bump in a periwinkle blue Pamella Roland gown. Husband Paul is a songwriter, producer, and Boys Like Girls guitarist who was nominated for a CMAs Single of the Year for “Buy Dirt” by Jordan Davis and Luke Bryan.
According to People magazine, the couple married back in 2019, which came after nearly six years together.
“Our first date was five-and-a-half years ago,” Katie told People at the time. “After dating for a couple months, I knew [he was going to be] my husband,” she said. “From the second that I met him up until now, he’s made me feel special and more than enough every single day.”
Katie landed on American Idol at age 16
Katie began performing and singing at age 3. She eventually landed on the American Idol stage. In August 2009, she auditioned for Idol in Boston, Massachusetts, and sang “At Last” where all four judges (including guest judge Victoria Beckham) advanced her to Hollywood. At the Boston audition, judge Kara DioGuardi called her one of the most talented 16-year-olds she had ever seen. She left the competition in 9th place. Katie previously starred as Karma in the MTV comedy series Faking It, which aired for three seasons. Her Freeform series, The Bold Type, ended after five seasons in 2021.
