American Idol’s Katie Stevens Marries Musician Paul DiGiovanni (PHOTO)

Congratulations to American Idol season 9 alum Katie Stevens. The singer and actress married Boys Like Girls guitarist and music producer Paul DiGiovanni on Saturday (Oct 12) in front of 250 loved ones just outside of Nashville, People magazine reports. Katie currently stars in the Freeform series The Bold Type.

“Our first date was five-and-a-half years ago. After dating for a couple months, I knew [he was going to be] my husband,” Katie told People ahead of her big day. The singer wore a form-fitting, long-sleeved Flora gown and L’Dezen jewels for her walk down the aisle. “From the second that I met him up until now, he’s made me feel special and more than enough every single day,” Katie said

Katie finished off her bridal look by paying tribute to her family. She wore her mother’s veil (“My grandfather stepped on my mom’s veil at her wedding, and since he is no longer with us I wanted to keep that as a little memento to him!”) and great-grandmother’s crown.

“I really did keep Paul in mind when I was choosing my dress,” said Katie, who was sung down the aisle by her close friend Betty Who and Bold Type costar Meghann Fahy. “He’s seen me in so many red carpet looks and gowns and everything in between, but I wanted to look like the girl he’s in love with [on our wedding day].”

Katie began performing and singing at age 3. Her passion eventually landed her a spot on the American Idol stage. In August 2009, she auditioned for Idol in Boston, Massachusetts, and sang “At Last” where all four judges (including guest judge Victoria Beckham) advanced her to Hollywood. At the Boston audition, judge Kara DioGuardi called her one of the most talented 16-year-olds she had ever seen. She left the competition in 9th place. Katie previously starred as Karma in the MTV comedy series Faking It, which aired for three seasons.
