Life in the fast lane with American Idol winner Laine Hardy – American Idol winner Laine Hardy can trace the exact moment that led him to stardom. He’s 5 years old, riding in the car with his mom, when “Heartbreak Hotel” comes on the radio. Elvis’ smooth, sultry voice echoes through the speakers, creeping from a whisper to a howl. For Hardy, it marks the dawn of his music career. By 7, he’s playing guitar, strumming the chords with his tiny fingers. For Halloween that fall, his mom and grandma glue sequins on an Elvis costume. Every person who sees him in the outfit runs to get their camera or asks him for his autograph. – Read more at BusinessReport

Q’s With Carrie Underwood: The ‘Cry Pretty’ Powerhouse Throws Down On Women, Country & Entertainer Of The Year – You’ve been selling major arenas out with an all-female bill instead of who’s hot on radio.
People have really reacted to this tour, which is a nice surprise and a breath of fresh air. We didn’t know, but it felt like something I should do as a woman who could sell the tickets. Maddie & Tae and Runaway June are different enough, so there’s this sense of discovery. People are coming early to see them, see these ladies who’re holding their own. We have a lot of Mommy/daughters, a lot of girls’ night out groups, but there are a lot of men bringing their girls. We’re doing it in a fun way! And it’s a family show. – Read more at Pollstar

It’s a ’10’ for ‘American Idol’ winner Kris Allen – Allen said he was a musician first, then a lyricist. It’s the opposite now. “I’ve fallen in love with lyrics and the stories songs can tell,” he said. “I am way more concerned with what the lyric is saying. It’s easier to start songs that way.” He’s embraced the changes over the past decade. “I really feel proud of it,” he said of the latest release. “It feels like the songs have gotten better throughout the years.” – Read more at DailyRepublic.com

‘The Voice’ winner Craig Wayne Boyd takes winding road to Alaska – After his parents split up he often found himself taking care of his younger sister, and that included cooking. The first thing he learned to make was eggs in the microwave but his repertoire has expanded far beyond that since. His website and YouTube channel are populated with cooking and baking videos from various television appearances or under the playful moniker of “Chef Boyd-R-Dee.” He makes a point to visit local chefs on the road to learn tips and tricks and find new flavors. “I’ve gotten pretty good at guessing flavors,” he said. “I like to take that and twist it and make it my own.” Boyd, who said his freezer even includes a substantial stash of emu from a ranch just outside of Nashville, handles the cooking around the house for his growing family even when he’s on the road. – Read more at ADN.com
