Jordin Sparks hopped on Instagram on Saturday to share new music news with her fans. The American Idol season 6 winner revealed that a new album is indeed on the way.
“I don’t think you guys are ready because it’s not just an album. It’s a lot of music. I spent the second half [of] 2020 and 2021 going through and recording music,” She continued, “Last year. I was in the studio at least four times a week, writing and recording.”
“Our goal was to write and record a hundred songs [last year] and I did that, and then some .”
Not only did she record new song, but she recorded a couple of “dream collaborations.
“I did get to be in studio with the one and only T-Pain and that has been a dream of mine,” she said “I’ve been wanting to work with him for so long. Fun fact: Hip hop artist T-Pain won the inaugural season of The Masked Singer as The Monster in 2019.
Additionally, Jordin recorded with Young Dro. “‘Shoulder Lean’ was THE song in my childhood I remember about the listening to in the car,” she gushed.
“I don’t want to give everyone away. But those are two that I recently was able to get in the studio with and it was so much fun. I had the best time.”

However, Jordin did give away a few song titles and one more collaborator.
She recorded “Whistle, While You Twerk.” “Nothing Lasts Forever. Featuring T-Pain,” “What Are We Doing?” Jordin added that she got to work with Shawn Stockman from Boyz II Men. “And when I tell you, I have been waiting for years since we met to work with him. It was incredible. I can’t wait for you guys to hear that song. It’s so beautiful.”
Expect big ballads
Jordin promised her fans that they will “be able to dance to it. You gonna be able to get ready to, and I got a song for the ladies that I think you’re really gonna like.” Jordin added, “This new music you’re going to get you’re going to see a whole bunch of different personalities that I got in here. A lot of different music I grew up with and was raised on.”
“I love to do ballads,” Jordin said, “I have some really, really beautiful ballads. I have some great songs that are just going to make you feel good. I want people to feel happy and uplifted and just excited after they listen to some of my songs.”
“There is a freedom in this music…I’ve experimented more with my voice”
As far as how the new music will be different, Jordin says, “There’s a freedom in this music…it’s fun and freeing and I’m just having a good time singing it. Even if it’s a sad song, I had a great time recording it.”
She’s also pushing her vocals in new directions. “I’ve experimented more with my voice, like the placement of my voice, what my voice sounds like. I’ve really been able to mess with different cadences, different feelings.”
Jordin shared her goals for 2022
“I would love to put out clothes, Jordin shared, “I’ve been figuring out different things that I like. We’ve been working and talking about pieces that we would want, because I definitely want to come out with a merch line. I also would love to come out with a line of sweat suits because it’s basically my outfit.”
Jordin recently guest hosted the day time TV talk show The Real. “Maybe one day I could have my own show. That’s the goal. That’s what I’ve always wanted.”
Meanwhile, her son DJ is about to turn four. “I really want to make sure I find the best school for him.” Jordin is deciding whether “it’s going to be a homeschooling pod or he’s goes to a school…which is terrifying to think about.” Husband Dana Isiah made a cameo at the end of the stream.
Interesting tidbit: A fan asked if she would ever record a song again with Chris Brown. She answered, “Is the sky blue? Do we breathe air? Yes. Yes. I would.” Jordin’s biggest his is her 2008 duet “No Air” with the R&B singer. Brown is notorious for battering Rihanna, his girlfriend at the time, in 2009.
