Jordin Sparks Hopes New Hallmark Christmas Movie Inspires Her Fans

Jordin Sparks Hallmark movie A Christmas Treasure premieres Nov 7

“Christmas in Pine Grove will be extra special this holiday season as the Webb family plans
to open a 100-year-old time capsule that was buried when the town was founded,” is how Hallmark describes A Christmas Treasure, starring American Idol 6 winner Jordin Sparks and Michael Xavier. The movie, part of Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas, premieres tonight (Nov 7) at 8 pm.

Jordin’s character Lou enjoys all the town’s festivities surrounding the big reveal while continuing to work at her family’s newspaper. Meanwhile, she’s finalizing her plans to further her writing career by moving to New York after Christmas.

But this being a Hallmark rom com, things won’t go as originally planned. After opening the time capsule and finding her grandfather’s old journal, Lou begins to question whether she should move or stay in Pine Grove to carry on her family’s legacy.

And of course, there is romance. “Having also met charming chef, Kyle (Xavier), who is also at a crossroads while visiting Pine Grove for the holidays, only makes Lou doubt the future she had planned even more.”

In the movie, Jordin  sings two classic Christmas songs, covering “This Christmas” and on the piano, “Oh Holy Night.” Her original song from her 2020 Christmas album Cider & Hennessy, “Oh, It’s Christmas,” will also be part of the movie.

Jordin hopes fans watching the move “feel a sense of wanting to follow your dreams”

In this behind the scenes clip, Jordin talks about recording the music for the movie. She also shares her love of Christmas–her birthday is December 22 after all. She hopes that people who watch the movie “feel a sense of wanting to follow your dreams, wanting to still make your mark in your own family, but still standing on your own two feet…finding love in expected ways and unexpected places.”

Jordin is also an executive producer on the project.

Jordin has written 95 songs since January

Chatting with Today’s Hoda and Jenna, Jordin reveals that she’s been in the studio since January. She’s written 95 songs, breaking through a writer’s block she had last year.

Next year will mark 15 years since Jordin won American Idol

In this interview with Access Hollywood, Mario Lopez notes that next year will be the 15th anniversary of her win on American Idol. Jordin admits that the experience was terrifying, but super exciting at the same time. “I wouldn’t be able to do all the things I’m doing now had it not been for the show. It really propelled me into everything I’m doing.” She also describes Idol as “a boot camp for media training,” adding “After being on Idol, it’s like anything else is a cakewalk.”

Interestingly, Jordin feels that competing on Idol as a twenty-something would have been harder, because the judgements would have affected her more. “I would have been thinking about way more layers that come with growing up,” she says.
