Yes, last month news broke that Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez broke off their engagement. But then the two insisted that it was only rocky times! And that they were continuing to work on their relationship.
But now it appears to be official. Jennifer and Alex released a joint statement to NBC:
We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.
After reports circulated last month that the former American Idol and World of Dance judge and former MLB player called of their engagement, multiple sources told TODAY at the time that the two “never officially broke up” and were still together.
“They hit a rough patch that made them think about what they should do,” the sources added, noting that it was tough for the couple to see each other amid COVID-19 restrictions while Jennifer was working in the Dominican Republic and Alex was in Miami.
“All the reports are inaccurate. We are working through some things,” the two also told TODAY in a joint statement at the time.
But alas, the power couple was never meant to be a married couple. Rumors began swirling again when Jennifer posted selfies on Instagram from the set of her new movie Shotgun Wedding in the Dominican Republic. In them, her engagement ring was missing.
Speaking of engagement ring, according to TMZ, Jlo hasn’t given A-rod back the ring. And reportedly, she probably won’t.
