Is George Lopez in Talks to Take Over Celebrity Apprentice?

Page Six reported last night that comedian, George Lopez, was in talks with NBC to take over as host of The Celebrity Apprentice after the network cut ties with Donald Trump over his disparaging remarks about Mexican immigrants.  But is the rumor true?

A source told Page Six “There have been initial conversations with George Lopez’s representatives, and, given Donald Trump’s crazy comments, George would be the perfect loud response to Trump.”

A second source said, “It could be a smart move by NBC to cast George as Trump’s replacement, and it would also bring diversity to the network.” But the source added, “The talks are in the very early stages.”

That’s a delicious story–a Mexican American entertainer taking over for Trump. However, after The Wrap initially posted the report, an update from a source debunked the story.

There is “no truth” to a report that George Lopez is in talks to replace Donald Trump as the host of “The Celebrity Apprentice,” an individual with knowledge of the search told TheWrap.

Unless George Lopez is an entrepreneur on the side, the entire premise of the show would have to be reworked. The idea is for a well known business person to test the business acumen of celebrities. The winner receives a nice check for the charity of their choice.

I said this before. NBC should grab one of the entrepreneurs from ABC’s The Shark Tank. Or, how about a well-known sports figure who runs businesses on the side?

Who do you think should take over Celebrity Apprentice?
