Here’s an exciting bit of information. American Idol 15 singer Tristan McIntosh tweeted that she was released from her American Idol contract on August 7. That means two things: 1. Her contract is not being picked up by 19 and 2. She’s free to release new music. Winner Trent Harmon and runner-up La’Porsha Renae were both signed by 19R.
Considering we’ve heard nothing from the remaining Top 10, it’s probably safe to say the rest are also finally free from their Idol contracts as well. Although that does not account for MacKenzie Bourg releasing a single on an indie label a few weeks ago, so who knows!
Exciting News! Yesterday I was released from my idol contract! Very soon Im going to be creating music for yall :) https://t.co/kMkR6LpN6m

Anyway, good luck to Tristan, who is actually a decent songwriter. She’s got a new one titled “Write Your Own Song.” In her introduction, Tristan says that deciding what to write about is can be a very difficult process. “We don’t want to be copycat artists,” says Tristan to the crowd, “So we decided ‘How about if we don’t like to hear on the radio…just write your own song!'”
