The Voice Season 8 Singer Joshua Davis begins a Kickstarter Campaign

Michigan folk singer Joshua Davis finished The Voice in 3rd place season 8. Now, he’s raising funds for his next album. He’s hoping to raise $30,000, which is…a bit steep I think? After 4 days the singer has raised over $6,000.

I have been pouring my heart into a bunch of songs over the past couple months. These songs are filled with hope and inspired by family and community. We’ve got Steve Berlin from Los Lobos on board to produce! He’s one of my heroes and is a roots-rock pioneer. I can’t tell you how excited I am to work with him. Most of my recorded work has been self-produced, so it’s going to be a big change to work with another set of ears at the helm, but I can’t think of a more perfect producer for this record. I’ll also be working with my comrades Dominic John Davis (bass), Mike Lynch (keys) and Michael Shimmin (percussion) on this record as well. These are longtime collaborators and some of my best friends on the planet. I can’t wait to get back in the studio with them. Speaking of studio, Glenn Brown is on board to engineer! Glenn is a sonic genius and a gem of a human being.

We’re so very excited to make an incredible album and to get it to as many ears as possible, but we need your support! We’ll be using the funds raised to pay the producer, musicians, engineer, studio time and space, mixing and mastering and manufacturing CD’s and vinyl records. No 8-tracks on this run!

He’s hoping to use some of the funds for publicity and to push songs to AAA radio, which probably accounts for the steep end goal. Josh is a talented songwriter and I wish him good luck. Click to check out Josh Davis’ Kickstarter. He’s hoping to release by February 2017.
