NBC ANNOUNCES CASTING CALL FOR DOROTHY IN HOLIDAY PRODUCTION OF ‘THE WIZ LIVE!’ – NEW YORK – May 27, 2015 – NBC is having an open casting call for the lead role of Dorothy in the network’s upcoming holiday special “The Wiz Live!,” set for Thursday, Dec. 3. The casting call is set for Saturday, June 6 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Telsey + Co., 311 W. 43rdSt., 10thFloor in Midtown Manhattan. Sign-in begins at 9 a.m. Casting directors will be looking for a young African-American woman between 18-27 years old. She must have an extraordinary voice that can tell a story, as well as be mature with a youthful energy. Candidates need to be prepared to sing the songs “Home,” “Ease on Down the Road” and “Be a Lion” from the original Broadway production of “The Wiz.” – Read more at NBC

More Tony Winners and Original “Smash” Stars Join Bombshell Broadway Concert – “Smash” cast members Jaime Cepero, Brian d’Arcy James, Ann Harada, Jeremy Jordan, Donna McKechnie, Leslie Odom, Jr. and Wesley Taylor are among the latest actors to join the one-night-only Broadway concert presentation of Bombshell, which will take place June 8 at the Minskoff Theatre. Bombshell, the fictional show from “Smash” that musicalizes the life story of Marilyn Monroe, features a score by Tony Award-winning songwriters Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. Standouts from the score include “Let Me Be Your Star” and “Hang the Moon.” “Smash” producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron present the starry event that will be co-directed by Joshua Bergasse and Wittman with choreography by Bergasse. It is presented as a benefit for The Actors Fund. American Idol winner Nick Fradiani talks ‘Beautiful Life’ – Fradiani shared that he is “pumped” about his coronation song “Beautiful Life,” which is his newest radio single on Big Machine Records. “The song clicked with me right away, and I just really lucked out with it. I enjoy playing it and I love how the recording came out. It is doing pretty well right now and it is starting to get airplay on radio. It is a really well-written song. There are a lot of cool things happening with the song and I am really excited for it,” he said.

‘American Idol’ winner Kris Allen stops in Naperville – Singer Kris Allen may have won the eighth season of “American Idol,” but he’s still a homeowner. He took a break from hanging a ceiling fan in his new home in Nashville to talk about his May 30 concert at North Central College in Naperville. The show starts at 8 p.m. in Pfeiffer Hall. The special guest is Elenowen. “I have a great band and we like to have fun,” he said. “We try to get everyone involved and get people singing and make sure people are engaged the whole time. It’s a fun show.” If you have never heard of Kris Allen, or haven’t heard him since his “Idol” days, the live show is a great re-introduction, he said. “We make sure people never get lost,” he said. “We make sure people are having a good time.” – Read more at Chicago Tribune
