David Archuleta on Fighting to Sing Imagine Without the God Reference – David steadfastly refused so as not to leave his young audience confused as to his own belief. He chose the lyric in the John Lennon song “Imagine” that did not place him in the position of endorsing a world without God; he chose to take up a Mormon mission in a place of disadvantage even though it meant passing up generous contracts and a career momentum that few people could resist; – The essay is long and clunkily written, but it did lead me to these videos of David speaking at a religious conference at Utah Valley University. He talks about fighting with TBTB not to sing the first verse of Imagine, and the brouhaha over his tweet about marriage between a man and a woman. – Huffington Post

Jordin Sparks speaks to Tonight – “I have been away for too long so I have a lot to say. I was 17 when I won American Idol so I’d never been in love and never felt some of the uncertainties that come with age. I hadn’t felt the butterflies you feel when you are with somebody and I also felt my world shatter when my heart was broken. So I was able write about all those things because I went through them. Whenever an artist writes and performs a personal song, it makes the listener step into that musician’s life for a second so I love that I am able to do that on this record. Most of my fans are around my age and have grown up with me and I want them to know that I am there with them figuring out this thing called life,” she explained. – Read more at Tonight
