Kanye West Vs. Taylor Swift And More Great Feuds Of 2009

Adam Lambert vs. ABC
After Adam Lambert hit the American Music Awards stage for an over-the-top performance of “For Your Entertainment, ” ABC was anything but entertained. The “American Idol” runner-up didn’t feel the need to apologize for his risqu performance, and ABC canceled several of his planned appearances on the channel. When he did eventually make it back on the network, he wasn’t allowed to go live: His “View” appearance was pre-taped.

Idol Hands Are’ ¦

Jordin Sparks may have won American Idol two years ago, but she is still operating as if her life changed last night. ‘It happened so fast! I went from being a high school student to being one of the most recognizable faces in America, ‘ she says. ‘The next day, I was doing interviews, going on a tour, doing photo shoots and recording an album. I’ve [been] going ever since.’

Sparks, 19, has been working so hard’”as evidenced by her platinum-plus self-titled debut album and Grammy nod for song ‘No Air’ (with Chris Brown)’”but, she has yet to experience the one thing most teenage girls long for: a boyfriend. ‘This year, I finally made the time to ease my way into dating, but I never really dated before, ‘ she admits. ‘I was always so focused on music and being one of the boys. It’s new for me. It’s different and strange and weird all at the same time.’

O my! Chicago pop culture center stage in 21st century

4. Jennifer Hudson: From ‘American Idol’ to American superstar

The Chicago-born singer first gained national notice as an ‘American Idol’ finalist in 2004, but her golden pipes were just getting warmed up. In the years thereafter, Jennifer Hudson proved her considerable mettle with an Oscar-winning turn as Effie White in the 2006 movie ‘Dreamgirls, ‘ a Grammy-winning debut album (‘Jennifer Hudson, ‘ 2008) and legions of rabid fans. On the heels of her Oscar win, March 6, 2007, was declared Jennifer Hudson Day in Chicago, as she returned to visit her old school (Dunbar Vocational Career Academy on South King Drive) and soak in hometown praise. Late in 2008, tragedy struck. Hudson’s brother, mother and nephew were shot to death in Chicago, allegedly by her estranged brother-in-law. An outpouring of public sympathy followed, and Hudson slowly emerged from seclusion to resume her career. She also gave birth to a son this past September. A month later, she sang and was interviewed on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’s’ 24th season debut, taped before a crowd of thousands on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile.

Bucky Covington’s Fifth Time’s the Charm

Bucky Covington is such a small-town boy at heart that he moved five times around Nashville before finally finding his perfect home — in the country, of course! Bucky tells The Boot that he loved growing up in a tiny town, and while many of his friends couldn’t wait to leave, he really couldn’t picture living anywhere else.

“I grew up near Rockingham, North Carolina, ” explains the singer. “A lot of people couldn’t wait to get out of there, but I was totally opposite. People say there’s nothing to do there, but to me, all you need is a twelve-pack and a campfire! I always had a ball. I was a very outdoors person … I grew up on dirt bikes and four wheelers and boats and jeeps and that’s just what I do now.”

  4. Wow, that The Wrap article about NYE shows is seriously messed up. Kris is performing on NYE on national television for the exposure. I’m quite sure he doesn’t give a damn about how much it costs for a person to see the show live. Meanwhile, Adam is doing a private show that I’m sure will be great, but his first choice was obviously the Dick Clark NYE show, also for its exposure. Also, why do people continue to imply that Adam is relishing his “vanquishing” of Kris. They’re friends. They’re not competing with each other. Heck, they didn’t even consider themselves competitors when they were on Idol together. Ugh, it’s just so annoying.

  5. Tiger did have a good year til “wife-gate” scandal started. Plus Kris is a huge sports fan.

  7. That article by The Wrap – I think Kris is perfectly happy with his NYE plans to perform on national television – I don’t think what it costs for someone to be there is a factor to him. In a way, it’s better exposure then a private even that costs a lot of money to get to. For my friends and I, the party we have usually has a lot of flipping between the different shows that are on and we wouldn’t be able to see Adam’s show since it’s not on TV – we will be able to see Kris (and Allison) since they’re on the Fox show.

  8. Tiger Woods? Strange answer. Was Kris joking?

Yeah, that article COMPLETELY misquotes Kris, which you can see if you watch the video with the article and the fuller version of the interview that Jim Cantiello posted. (The “quotes” were taken from Jim’s interview w/ Kris at the Z100 Jingle Ball.)

  9. Yeah, that MTV article (about Kris’ favorites of the year) is ridiculously sloppy. I remember Jim Cantiello’s interview with Kris at the Jingle Bell Ball where Jim asks Kris about “people of the year”: and Kris says something like, “I almost picked Tiger Woods,” and then he laughs. So he was thinking Tiger Woods, but then does not pick him (presumably because he recalled Woods is a sleazeball even if he did make a comeback this year.)

  12. Here is a great article about Kris’s friend Cale Mills (one of Kris’s band members) with some more insight into what all of this means to the two of them. http://www.501lifemag.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=414&Itemid=12

This is my favorite quote from the article..

‘Sometimes we’ll grab each other and be like ‘Is this really happening,” Mills said. ‘It is a dream come true, but at the same time we realize that our lives can’t be centered on it. People have a glitz and glammer idea of it, but we’re still just living. If you don’t have friends, family and a good church around you, none of it is really going to matter.

Even if it’s true that he laughed and said “I almost picked Tiger Woods” or words to that effect? Sounds like a good answer to me.

  17. KNA, he was misquoted. See the link for the whole interiew posted above.

  18. MTV seriously needs to print a retraction or something – they make Kris sound like a douche

  19. That mistake in that article referencing Taylor Hicks is hilarious. The internet has sure made “journalism” sloppier than ever. They make mistakes and then easily correct them, but having it in print forever is much more horrific and humbling. Too bad.

  20. Some people are saying that Kris is not going to the People’s Choice Awards. Is that a rumor or fact?? Does anyone know? Why wouldn’t he go?

  21. alaadam, maybe they are saying he is not presenting or receiving an award.

  22. AINow tweeted last night that they confirmed Kris isn’t going to the PCA’s. I’m assuming Kris was alerted that he didn’t win his category and either simply doesn’t want to go or has some other reason for not attending. We don’t know if Adam is going to be there — it’s possible he might not attend, either.

  23. Also, why do people continue to imply that Adam is relishing his ‘vanquishing’ of Kris. They’re friends. They’re not competing with each other. Heck, they didn’t even consider themselves competitors when they were on Idol together. Ugh, it’s just so annoying.

Alas, the world of journalists wanting hits. Right after AI, didn’t Adam and Kris have to speak out about their “made up feud” that the media invented for them during the show? Ugh indeed.

Some people are saying that Kris is not going to the People’s Choice Awards. Is that a rumor or fact?? Does anyone know? Why wouldn’t he go?

The people who win usually know in advance for this thing, and they may or may not show up, but someone who knows they didn’t win may have little reason to go, unless they were asked to present. Especially if he needs the rest or to practice with the band.

Re the Tiger Woods quote – wow, that really sucks if that’s how out of context they took Kris’s remark. Totally not fair to him.

  24. I’m sure it’s frustrating at times for these Idols (or any artist for that matter) when the media prints things like the incomplete quote from Kris, or the statement about Adam outshining Kris on NYE (which we know Adam wouldn’t agree with). The good news is that it probably upsets the fans more than anybody, and we’re the ones who know the real truth…so it’s really no big deal. For the random person flipping through the MTV news, they’ll probably never think about Kris’s comment about Tiger again….or give a second thought as to who has the better NYE gig.

  25. I think the PCA notify winners and non winners in advance and that’s how people decide if they will attend or not. So he possible didn’t win or he did win and have a conflicting schedule. So yeah, that answer helped a lot.

  26. We don’t know if Adam is going to be there ‘” it’s possible he might not attend, either.

Here’s hoping he may be asked to present. I think Gaga will win that category (deservedly so). Unless SuBo’s cd buyers are also avid internet poll voters (lol – doubtful).

Yeah – I can see it being a good PR moment for him, albeit brief, and if for no other reason than to get to chat it up with some hollywood A-listers. However, there are also a lot of TV and movie folks there, and probably not many music insiders. So the benefit of it may not be that substantial. If he sees his time better spent doing something else, like getting ready for a tour that starts in February, I can see him deciding not to go.

  35. My guess is that Kris has a scheduling conflict. My experience with the PCAs is that most non-winners/non-presenters don’t show. They don’t even get all the winners to show, even though they tell them they won in advance.

Yeah – I can see this. Adam has tended to work the biz angle more substantially than Kris in this respect, in terms of plugging a lot of his fav artists, and this would be prime schmooze time for him to stay on their radar. Being friends with the big names in pop music can be a very beneficial thing down the road ;-)

Nobody shows up for the PCA’s unless they won or are presenting. Otherwise, they just look stupid. Like they weren’t aware that they would have been told if they won and they honestly thought they had a chance. It’s been that way forever with the PCA’s.

Umm, iirc, this happened during the writer’s strike, which was a few years ago. They couldn’t have the normal awards shows during the strike without writers to provide that wonderful, witty banter ;-) (I think it ended shortly before the Oscars).

I would love to see Constantine in Rock of Ages but I’m afraid I might not get to NYC while he’s still starring… He would have won the Tony if he hadn’t been up against the 3 Billy’s from Billy Elliott, the boys were tough to beat, but Constantine has been drawing really good reviews and the show sounds like fun.

  44. There are a lot of people on twitter who think Adam won the PCA for Breakout Artist. Lady Gaga SHOULD win — but she should have won at the AMAs as well, yet was beaten out by some Country group who most people in the audience seemed to have never heard of. So I won’t be shocked if Lady Gaga didn’t win this award. When the public votes, who knows what will happen. And Adam’s fans are tenacious in trying to vote him all these awards.

  45. I enjoy seeing Adam’s name mentioned with Taylor Swift and Twilight in this article:

As good as Adam is, i really don’t think he should have won this. His album has been out for less then 2 months and while so far he’s selling fabulously well, it’s nothing like what Gaga has done this year. Adam’s fans need to be careful about voting him as the winner of all these polls and awards before they turn him into something of a joke. I could understand if he would be nominated and/or winner next year for best male vocalist or something but Gaga has dominated this year and IMO, it’s a travesty if spammers keep her from this deserved award (she was robbed at the AMAs).

So I won’t be shocked if Lady Gaga didn’t win this award. When the public votes, who knows what will happen. And Adam’s fans are tenacious in trying to vote him all these awards.

Very true. I was very surprised when Gaga didn’t win the AMA, and I think that one went to the country group that had ties to Taylor Swift, which explained the vote for them.

Hmmm, Adam could definitely win. Even I’ve been surprised at some of the online reader polls he’s won at the end of the year (like the Eonline one for celeb of the year) – it kinda makes me feel better as a highly invested fan to know I didn’t even know about these polls, yet he still won ;-) (don’t know why that’s a consolation, but, eh, whatevs).

  50. I got an email from the PCA’s offering tickets for $20 (!!!).

‘Queen Latifah returns as the host and will open the show with a musical number featuring surprise guests! Mary J. Blige will perform and celebs attending the show include Hugh Jackman, Mariah Carey, Steve Carrell, Ashton Kutcher, Taylor Lautner, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, LL Cool J and many more!

Ahh! Girlygirl! I am so insanely jealous that you live in LA!!! With the snow we’ve been having lately, I’m so seriously thinking of just packing up and moving there right now! (say, right before NYE… ;-))

Well, at least we’ll have one idol in the house with Carrie there.

  51. GAGA should win , but I have no say bc I didn’t even vote..lol I am sorry Kris nor Adam should win that award. Crap Subo should win over them too..lol

Anywho GAGA should win how many top40 hits did she have this year. Kris just made it to the top40 and Adam hasn’t even yet. That’s just the facts peeps.

  52. Nobody shows up for the PCA’s unless they won or are presenting. Otherwise, they just look stupid.

    Oh like poor sports….

  53. As good as Adam is, i really don’t think he should have won this. His album has been out for less then 2 months and while so far he’s selling fabulously well, it’s nothing like what Gaga has done this year.

ITA that Gaga deserves to win, but if I had a nickel for every person who SHOULD have won, vs. who DID, well, I’d be very rich right now. As for a backlash, though, I kinda doubt that. Timing can be everything with these. At least Adam is in the public spotlight now, so I don’t think the viewing public will see it as completely undeserved, or hold it against him. He was on AI, and in the public consciousness that carries a lot of weight as to why certain people are “popular”, at least right off the show.

  54. Lady Gaga is also up for some other category.. like female pop artist of the year… or Artist of the year. To me she has already made it. I haven’t thought of her as a ‘break out artist’ in a long time, not that this means anything.

  55. I also think that Lady Gaga should win Breakout artist at the PCA. She has came out of nowhere and dominated the charts all year. I honestly don’t think Adam or Kris deserves the win, but this one will go to the artist who has fans who are able to spam these polls. I guess that is why they call it People’s Choice.

  56. GaGa is also nominated in another category – forget the title but more for an established star. If GaGa wins that one I won’t be upset at all if Adam wins Breakout Artist.

And yes – congratulations to Constantine. I saw the show and he was fantastic. Shouldn’t this have a thread of it’s own or at least be in the Idol Headlines?

  57. Nobody shows up for the PCA’s unless they won or are presenting. Otherwise, they just look stupid.

    Oh like poor sports’ ¦.

No — the PCA’s have always been one of the few award shows that the winners are notified in advance and for the most part only the winners show up…the awards have very little, if anything, to do with sales, critical merit etc. etc. Its just a public vote and the public votes for whoever they want regardless of merit…nothing wrong with that. “Breakout Artist” is undefined, not linked to sales, critical acclaim etc…nothing wrong with any one of the nominees winning, even if it is Adam or Kris, who are certainly worthy as people who no one knew this time last year and now everyone knows. I’m sure Lady Gaga could give a rats ass whether she wins the PCA or not — the grammy’s, now that is another story

  58. LOL at the NYE article ranking the various gigs. Is he really saying a gig with a higher priced ticket is the better event? I’m pretty sure Adam would agree he’d prefer to be performing on a nationally televised NYE show. Pretty ridic if you ask me.

I hope Lady Gaga wins that award – she sure deserves to. I’ll be disappointed if fan spamming wins this for Adam. I don’t have ill will toward him, but I hardly think he’s done enough to deserve that award, and Lady Gaga clearly has.

  59. Itunes Canada overall charts:

    Album
    FYE – 36
    Fianlly ahead of SuBo ;)

    Single
    FYE – 42
    WWFM – 103

    Music Video – 12

  60. Oh like poor sports’ ¦.

LOL. Why go to all the time and expense of showing up for a 2 second reaction show of you losing? Especially at an industry award show where the tradition is to show up only if you win? Especially one that just proves who has the fanbase who are the best at spamming polls. At least in the old days, it was a phone poll so there was some hope that the voters were a representative sample of the American public.

Didn’t we go through all this when Kris was roundly criticized for not attending the “This is It” premier because he was busy doing radio interviews? Turns out that those radio interviews were the better use of his time.

  61. I definitely think Lady Gaga deserves to win Breakout Artist of the Year at the People’s Choice Awards. I don’t think Kris should have even been nominated. His only claim to fame was winning American Idol. And that is an entirely separate post. In as far as Adam, I do think there is the risk of being over hyped. Once in a while, it’s better just let someone else have the limelight. And he will probably be the first to say LG deserves it.

  62. Just for the recognition alone I sincerely hope Adam does win a PCA. NGL I want him to win it. Lady Gaga is all set with her place in the entertainment world, I doubt she could care less about this award.

  63. James Montgomery at MTV has purposely misquoted Kris before. Whenever I read something from MTV that has Kris saying something weird it’s always James Montgomery and it can be traced back to something he got out of Jim’s interviews and twisted. I think we need to ask MTV to investigate. I despise needless litigation but James Montgomery appears malicious. I can’t believe he still has a job, or that Jim C. hasn’t punched him out yet.

  64. Especially one that just proves who has the fanbase who are the best at spamming polls. At least in the old days, it was a phone poll so there was some hope that the voters were a representative sample of the American public.

Hmmmmm spamming… sounds a lot like American idol voting. LOL

  65. I dont really care who wins Breakout Artist of the Year, i voted for Adam, Kris and Lady GaGa once and never went back voting. Im just too lazy for that.

  66. Especially one that just proves who has the fanbase who are the best at spamming polls.

As Idol fans, don’t we love this though? Isn’t that what American Idol is really predicated upon? Of course, the spamming is done through calls and text messaging. Doesn’t seem to be a major issue for Idol fans, especially, when “our guy” won.

  67. Fanatics who keep the Adam vs. Kris competition alive don’t seem to realize that A vs. K is as logical as Lady Ga Ga vs. Taylor Swift.

AI is over. Adam and Kris each have a different style and are going after a different demographic. There’s no comparison. Apples and oranges. Adam and Kris are going in different directions with different teams that work with them.

    There is no comparison.

Someone should tell the media that. The constant need to put one down in order to build the other one up that the media seems to love playing at is what keeps this alive. I can’t wait for Season 9 because this will calm it down a bit (it worked for Cook and Archie)

  68. Hmmmmm spamming’ ¦ sounds a lot like American idol voting. LOL

Totally. American Idol actively encourages it. Everybody used to know that.

  69. AI is over. Adam and Kris each have a different style and are going after a different demographic. There’s no comparison. Apples and oranges. Adam and Kris are going in different directions with different teams that work with them.

    There is no comparison.

While I agree wholeheartedly with this sentiment, the truth is they’re both competing on the pop charts, so some comparison is reasonable and inevitable.

Somebody upthread was asking about the Pechanga. I used to live in North San Diego County, and Temecula was considered an easy commute. (Folks drive fast on those California freeways when they’re not choked with traffic!) The Pechanga gets a lot of A-listers: George Jones, Journey, Mark Knopfler, Merle Haggard, Joel McHale (maybe he and Cook can rendezvous in the beauty salon!).

  70. Lady Gaga deserves to win but I have not seen her fans being very good at voting. If she does, it would be cool if Adam presents. Being that she is on tour, and not on the West Coast, she probably would have a taped acceptance from wherever she is.
If Adam wins, cool! I am going. Got my tickets yesterday. They were really cheap!

ETA: Just checked her tour scheduale and she is off the 6th, so maybe she will be there!

  71. Cute little tweets between Adam and Drake. Like the “loaded smile” reference.

  72. I honestly don’t think Adam or Kris deserves the win, but this one will go to the artist who has fans who are able to spam these polls. I guess that is why they call it People’s Choice.

Yep! Sounds just like American Idol.

  73. Yep! Sounds just like American Idol.

And if Adam knocks off Lady Gaga by winning that category, it will be interesting to see if the same media folks who accused Kris of “robbing” Adam, turn around and accuse Adam of robbing Gaga.

  74. Cute little tweets between Adam and Drake. Like the ‘loaded smile’ reference.

That tweet, from Drake, is old. Nov. 23rd.

  75. BootStar boy that would be funny to see. Somehow I don’t think that the media will care much. Show producers can barely get the winners to attend, the awards carry zero weight and no game show prizes. LOL

  76. I just don’t look at GAGA as a “Breakout Artist”. She should definitely be Artist of the Year or Female Artist. She seems way past Breaking Out. I think if she wins artist of the year or whatever category it was, it won’t matter. But, wasn’t she up against Taylor Swift for that category? Her fans are voting spammers too. I think people will be more focused on the Artist of the Year Category than breakout. Does anyone else consider GAGA a Breakout ARtist??

  77. The People’s Choice started out as a bogus award that nobody cared about and nobody showed up for, so they told the celebs who won in advance specifically to get the winners to show up. It was the only carrot they had. Like, woo hoo, you won an award, so NOW will you come and accept so we can get advertisers based on your name? In the olden days when I actually followed awards shows (I was hooked on the Oscars and Emmys and I was always trying to predict those awards based on the other ones) you could tell who won by who was announced to be there, because you knew darn well the only ones who would be there were the winners.

There have been allegations that they only nominate people if their publicist swears they’ll show up if they win.

I just noticed that they have a People’s Choice Award this year for Favorite DiGiorno’s Pizza. Maybe Lady Gaga or Adam can win that one if their fans spam enough?

  78. Since when did AI become you only vote once….The last few years I believe every finalist had instructions on how to vote more tha once and vote if you live out of the country. Good Gawd they(Seacrest&judges) tell you to vote as many times as you can during the show!!

ITA–I voted for GAGA in that category. I think Adam, Kris and Subo are the breakout artists. I voted for ADAM but I will not be disappointed if he does not win, as they say, it is an honor to be nominated:)

  80. I just don’t look at GAGA as a ‘Breakout Artist’ . She should definitely be Artist of the Year or Female Artist. She seems way past Breaking Out. I think if she wins artist of the year or whatever category it was, it won’t matter

Actually, her album came out just a little over a year ago. Hard to believe. When I saw her, at The Nokia, last week, she mentioned that almost a year ago, to the day, she was opening act for New Kids on the Block at the same venue!
So, yes, I think she epitomizes “breakout artist.”

  81. I think people will be more focused on the Artist of the Year Category than breakout. Does anyone else consider GAGA a Breakout ARtist??

I think a lot of people do. There was a lot of rumbling about how the Grammy’s should change their rules so that Gaga would be eligible for the Best New Artist award for this set of Grammys, but they ultimately decided not to. A lot of OpEd pieces have been written saying that the BNA category lacks credibility this year because she could not be nominated. Those people who thought that Gaga should be the BNA probably wouldn’t have a problem with her being the Break-out Artist People Choice winner.

  82. Honestly Gaga started out only selling 20,000 copies of her CD. She really broke out this past year. To me that is the definition of “breakig out” hence the name of the award..lol

  83. Reminder:

The fanwarring is tedious and BORING to read. Please stop.

I’m getting ready to start deleting comments.

  84. That tweet, from Drake, is old. Nov. 23rd.

Yeah, but Adam tweeted that he saw Avatar with Drake last night. Thought it was kind of funny that Drake’s last tweet was a loaded smile reference. Nevermind. Continue…

  85. I’m an Adam fan but I would vote for Lady Gaga!
But I’m not in US so I don’t vote :)

  86. I don’t believe anyone said that she shouldn’t, but just that she seems past that. *shrug* She may be categorized as such, but for me, when you’ve accomplished so much, you move past breakout phase. For me it is a big whatever… she should win or not… doesn’t really matter. PCA really is a mostly meaningless awards show. I can’t get fired up over something like this.

  87. Yeah, but Adam tweeted that he saw Avatar with Drake last night. Thought it was kind of funny that Drake’s last tweet was a loaded smile reference. Nevermind. Continue’ ¦

Yeah, I thought that was a sweet tweet from Adam – good to see he’s spending some rare free time with his closest friends.

  88. And if Adam knocks off Lady Gaga by winning that category, it will be interesting to see if the same media folks who accused Kris of ‘robbing’ Adam, turn around and accuse Adam of robbing Gaga.

I doubt it – it’s not that big of a deal award for established artists, it is a big deal for trying to become established artist.

I get extremely frustrated with JM for the way he misquotes Kris, but, I think it’s more just out of laziness/sloppiness than malice. I remember that he reviewed Kris’s LLWD video with Jim, and actually had very nice things to say about the video, and the song. Honestly, it’s annoying the way he twists stuff, but it’s not the stuff that investigations and litigation is made of. (Not that a phone call from his publicist to clear things up wouldn’t be in order.)

I doubt it ‘“ it’s not that big of a deal award for established artists, it is a big deal for trying to become established artist.

Good point. I wonder if they have goodies for the winners… like all awards shows or just coupons for free pizza?

  92. I doubt it ‘“ it’s not that big of a deal award for established artists, it is a big deal for trying to become established artist.

I actually don’t think it is a big deal for either. Peoples choice is not exactly the most respected awards show. If Adam or Kris wins I don’t think anyone will be surprised an Idol contestant wins a public voting award, and I don’t think anyone will care

  93. Good point. I wonder if they have goodies for the winners’ ¦ like all awards shows or just coupons for free pizza?

LOL – that and free DVD rental.

  94. I actually don’t think it is a big deal for either. Peoples choice is not exactly the most respected awards show. If Adam or Kris wins I don’t think anyone will be surprised an Idol contestant wins a public voting award, and I don’t think anyone will care

Probably not – but as a fan I will be very happy for Adam if he wins.

  95. I doubt it ‘“ it’s not that big of a deal award for established artists, it is a big deal for trying to become established artist.

Yeah, I agree – a win would be a bigger deal for Adam than for Gaga, she’s doing just fine on her own right now, whereas it would give Adam some extra exposure (heck, I’ll admit I voted for him for the award, though I think I only voted once ;-) )

That said, I don’t completely disparage the PCA. They’re kinda like the popular alternative to the Emmys and Oscars, which, increasingly, have just rewarded very obscure (though often deserving) fare. The PCA’s represent the stuff that people are actually WATCHING (as in popular tv shows and movies). I think it has a valid place in the decidedly over-stuffed award show scene, if for no other reason than to satisfy those Oscar/Emmy naysayers who complain that shows with less than a million weekly viewers win – sorta the argument of “if a show no one watches wins an award, does anyone really care?”

  96. How many viewers does the PCA get anyways! Even though TECHNICALLY GAGA came out this year, I still see her way past Breakout-which I consider a compliment. She deserves tons of awards for what she has done in a short period of time.

  97. FOX is using FYE to promote it’s season. Well, the following cable channel in Asia (AXN) is using Cook’s Declaration! Yes, odd. But, you take it where you can get it.

It comes in at about 24 second mark.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWZ-X9vadOs

Well that sucks, you can barely hear it over the announcer. Still don’t get why that wasn’t released as a single.

  98. Yeah, I thought that was a sweet tweet from Adam ‘“ good to see he’s spending some rare free time with his closest friends.

    I agree. Love that.

Out of all of Cook’s songs they picked Declaration??? Weird, well any publicity is nice. Is AI watched much in Asia? Is this too many question marks?

  100. Actually Gaga technically came out in the late summer of 2008, then in the US in Oct. timeframe of 2008 (something like this). Thats where/why the Grammy issues came up. So there is a gray area. Personally I just want her to win something since she has unduly be overlooked too many times for my taste.

I want her to win, but I think it would indeed mean more to Adam or Kris.

  101. She is up for something….

Song of the year and album of the year – I beleive.

ETA: But not Breakout artist. There are a few artists/groups I never heard of nominated.

  102. Just Dance came out in 2008 so I can understand why some people may favor a newer artist in this award as the term “Break Out” seems to imply a new artist and peeps may feel like Gaga has been around for awhile. That said, I still voted for her because, as much as I love Adam, Gaga just deserves to win any award she is nominated for in 2009 – it was just her year.

  103. Is Lady Gaga nominated for a Grammy?

    yes, more than one

The Grammy’s is decided by peers and industry right? I think they really like her so I will be shocked if she does not win one.

  104. Well that sucks, you can barely hear it over the announcer. Still don’t get why that wasn’t released as a single.

That Youtube video was taped off of someone’s television, so I’m sure it sounded clearer in person.

Is AI watched much in Asia?

Well, definitely in the Philippines where I think this video came from, but I also recall that David Cook was interviewed by a bunch of fans from China when he was over in the Philippines for his concert with Archie. So, somehow they heard about him too.

Uummm, I’m hesitant to ask this aloud, who knows whatr a conversation it’ll initiate, but- didn’t you guys think he might have meant that he and Drake may be back together??
He saw the movie with Drake and then said ” I love how relationships evolve and develop and shift in unexpected ways. Connection is the truth.”

    And I say- ?????

I never believe people who say they’re just friends with their ex’s and can go see a movie together!!!!
    But hey, that’s just me… :-P

  106. I didn’t pay attention to much of the AMAs until Adam came on, then I cried and hid under the covers for a while, so forgive me if I can’t remember, but did Lady Gaga win an AMA or did Taylor Swift win everything? Fan spamming exhibit A.

She won everything. As I sat screaming at the TV, my dear husband reminded me of Kanye incident. Sympathy votes?

  108. Lady Gaga has been around too long to qualify for the “Best New Artist” Grammy. But is nominated for:

In the Record Of The Year category Beyonce (‘Halo’), Black Eyed Peas (‘I Gotta Feeling’), Kings Of Leon (‘Use Somebody’), Lady GaGa (‘Poker Face’) and Taylor Swift (‘You Belong With Me’).

    — I think Taylor Swift might win that one — but I would vote for Lady Gaga.

Gaga is also nominated for Album Of The Year: Beyonce ‘“ ‘I Am’ ¦ Sasha Fierce’, Black Eyed Peas ‘“ ‘The E.N.D.’, Dave Matthews Band ‘“ ‘Big Whiskey And The GrooGrux King’, Lady GaGa ‘“ ‘The Fame’, Taylor Swift ‘“ ‘Fearless’

    — This is a hard one to pick but the Grammy voters are conservative.

Best New Artist: MGMT, Zac Brown Band, Keri Hilson, Silversun Pickups, The Ting Tings

    — IMO who cares? The Ting Tings deserve it but I bet Zac Brown wins.

Best Alternative Music Album: David Byrne and Brian Eno ‘“ ‘Everything That Happens Will Happen Today’, Death Cab For Cutie ‘“ ‘The Open Door EP’, Depeche Mode ‘“ ‘Sounds Of The Universe’, Phoenix ‘“ ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix’, Yeah Yeah Yeahs ‘“ ‘It’s Blitz!’

    — If there is a Grammy God, then Phoenix ‘“ ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix’ will win [my fav album of the year] but nothing I like ever wins that Grammy.

  109. @mr – no that never crossed my mind, but you never know. Also I have been friends with ex’s where we can do dinner or movies without strings attached. He did say ‘my close friend’ he made a point of saying they were ‘friends’

ETA: Also he may have twittered about it just in case pap pictures show up and people jump to the wrong conclusion.

  110. Huh, and I thought Adam was tweeting about the movie plot line. I can’t see the forest for the trees sometimes :) Maybe they are friends with benefits. That wouldn’t be so bad!

  111. I think Swift won everything. For Breakout Artist some country group that toured with Swift won over GAGA.

  112. If the People’s Choice awards are supposed to be about rewarding popularity and not shows that nobody watches, then why did Christina Applegate win last year for Favorite Female TV Star, for a show that was promptly canceled because not enough people watched it?

I actually liked Samantha Who, too.

Good point. I wonder if they have goodies for the winners’ ¦ like all awards shows or just coupons for free pizza?

I’m pretty sure that Procter & Gamble owns the People’s Choice Awards, so I think it’ll be free pizza, diapers, deodorant, tampons and soap. Hey, everybody needs deodorant and soap.

  113. I’m pretty sure that Procter & Gamble owns the People’s Choice Awards, so I think it’ll be free pizza, diapers, deodorant, tampons and soap. Hey, everybody needs deodorant and soap.

Excellent… just like shopping at Costco without the bill. Ok, I have to admit, I’d pay to see Adam checking out a box of tampons. :)

  114. I’m pretty sure that Procter & Gamble owns the People’s Choice Awards, so I think it’ll be free pizza, diapers, deodorant, tampons and soap. Hey, everybody needs deodorant and soap.

LOL – and there are plenty who need the diapers and/or tampons as well :)

  115. Squirrely-
I know I know, it’s just that if I break up with someone, I can’t even look at them again, let alone go out… I mean, so much feelings are still there, you know? How can you ignore it? Especially in his case, where it seemed that the breakup was because of scheduling difficulties and not because lack of feeling…. oh damn, I can’t believe I’m analyzing his love life now- none of us actually have a f***** clue as to what actually went on/goes on there…

I have to start going out again, this is becoming dangerous :-)

( Last thing- LOL at the “friends with benefits” comment! ha!)

  116. Excellent’ ¦ just like shopping at Costco without the bill. Ok, I have to admit, I’d pay to see Adam checking out a box of tampons.

LOL – he’ll collect the deodorant for the smelly fans. So funny I have seen several people on twitter tweet about BO. Travis Wall and David Hernandez come to mind and they were not nice about pointing out that the people around them stink. Speaking of I need to put that on my CVS list.

  117. Well this article is full of a lot of journalistic failure ‘“ they even called Allison the 3rd place finisher on the show (where she should have finished, IMO) but clearly the person who wrote it is compeltely clueless

Also, I’d say NYC has a few more people voting than LR. If it was just Adam fans voting it would have been LA, not NYC and LA came in a very distant 3rd. Allisan also tweeted that she wanted NYC to win.

  118. As for a backlash, though, I kinda doubt that. Timing can be everything with these. At least Adam is in the public spotlight now, so I don’t think the viewing public will see it as completely undeserved, or hold it against him. He was on AI, and in the public consciousness that carries a lot of weight as to why certain people are ‘popular’ , at least right off the show.

ITA, Mary102. Given all the press about Adam right now (especially how prominently he’s been featured in the end-of-the-year wrap-ups) Adam seems to be the perfect 2009 phenom.

And I don’t think Lady GaGa belongs in this category either – to me she is more of an established artist. Just Dance was released in April, 2008, the album Fame was released in August, 2008 and the single, Poker Face, was released in September, 2008. To my way of thinking, she was the Breakout Artist of 2008.

  119. Is AI watched much in Asia?

Yes, American Idol [AI8] has been broadcast across Asia. Mostly carried on FOX Asia and Star/Star World. [The same Asian networks that are using the FYE promo.]

This year — over 500 million people in Asia have AI but viewership isn’t that high. In some countries it is on late night TV. It got decent ratings this year in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong. It was also broadcast in the Philippines, China, Malasia, India, Vietnam, South Korea and Taiwan. I think this was the same last year.

There are not reliable ratings for TV in China but AI was popular enough in China that the country has a lot of bootleg FYE CDs for sales [I’m sure other Idols are available — I only collect and track Adam material.] I have now collected 18 different versions of bootlet Asian FYE CDs from 5 different countries — including one from Bangkok that has all the US iTunes bonus material (cost $2 US). Sale price for FYE bootlegs CD in China are about $0.85 US. Everyone bookleg FYE that I have uses that original cover art [some copies are not perfect] which appears to be popular in Asia. There are also bootleg DVDs of Idol and PreIdol Adam performances. I only collect the music CDs.

Note: I also have a number of bootleg CDs from other countries, including the US and Canada where digital theft has made bootleg packaged CDs very rare.

  120. ITA, Mary102. Given all the press about Adam right now (especially how prominently he’s been featured in the end-of-the-year wrap-ups) Adam seems to be the perfect 2009 phenom.

Based on 2009 phenom status, maybe SuBo should win. She’s the real phenom of the year (I think Adam, Kris and Gaga all are more relevant for the future then she is).

  121. If the People’s Choice awards are supposed to be about rewarding popularity and not shows that nobody watches, then why did Christina Applegate win last year for Favorite Female TV Star, for a show that was promptly canceled because not enough people watched it?

Because people– the public and the industry — just really seem to like her. Honestly, her movies don’t do that well, her tv shows (except for MWC, when she was a kid) have a 2 year shelf life at best, but she keeps getting new gigs etc. She is just likeable, and one of those people that seems to have engendered a lot of good will in the industry as well — the industry roots for her. I bet some day when she is in her 40s she will have her “Blind Side” type role and get nominated for an Oscar…she is quite talented

  122. Uummm, I’m hesitant to ask this aloud, who knows whatr a conversation it’ll initiate, but- didn’t you guys think he might have meant that he and Drake may be back together??
He saw the movie with Drake and then said ‘ I love how relationships evolve and develop and shift in unexpected ways. Connection is the truth.’

    And I say- ?????

I never believe people who say they’re just friends with their ex’s and can go see a movie together!!!!
But hey, that’s just me’ ¦

I felt that it was more the friend vibe being that he said that it shifted in an unexpected way…but whenever there is love involved…either the friend kind or the tingly kind…it’s always possible to rekindle. Neither one is married or in a relationship (as far as we know) so I wouldn’t rule it out.

  123. Based on 2009 phenom status, maybe SuBo should win.

She may be a “phenom” but I don’t consider her an “Artist.” (The category is Favorite Breakout Music Artist.) She sings a bunch of covers and none of them particularly well.

I personally think she has one more album in her (released around the holidays next year) and that’s it. But, still, I think she’ll continue to earn a living in the industry and book engagements (she’ll always be something of a novelty act), so good for her.

  124. She may be a ‘phenom’ but I don’t consider her an ‘Artist.’ She sings a bunch of covers and none of them particularly well.

Laurel, I agree with you on this. I was merely responding to the concept of Adam winning because of the phenom he has been for 2009 and I think he, Kris and Gaga all have much more relevance for the long term, IMO, then SuBo ever will. She sings covers, and probably could put out a holiday music CD next year but it likely will never be more then that. The other 3, however, have all put out original music and are working to promote it and themselves.

  125. I don’t think its a big deal if Gaga or SuBo doesn’t win the PCA because they’re winning where it counts – in sales, and Gaga (and Taylor Swift) will probably clean up at the Grammy’s.

I’d like to see a more clear version of that promo with Declaration. I <3 that song :) Technically David has had a song used on Fox already, when LO was used in the kickass AI commercial last year.

  126. I PRAY that Subo only has one more album left. #notafan

    Zero would be even better!

  127. Allison is a nut! This did make me laugh

RT @Heather4Feather: @AllisonIraheta I dont think you are kidding. >.<" your right… Hahaha

Oh and that I actually opened up a shit load'a Twitter accounts and followed myself to make it seem like I had mo followers.. Yep it's true.

  128. Technically David has had a song used on Fox already, when LO was used in the kickass AI commercial last year.

The one with him and “The Eye” on the bed? Where he had so much eyeliner on it looked like he had 2 black eyes? (Not including “The Eye”).
    Aaah good times. Gooood times.

  129. Lots of Japanese articles about Adam lately. Is the storm starting to brew over there?

  130. I think he was on UK radio today also… seems the international launch has started?

When is this People’s Chioce Awards thing?

    Next Wednesday, Jan. 6th.

  132. NPR’s Linda Holmes highlights some favorites from here on mjs, including Jane Lynch, Craig Ferguson and Neil Patrick Harris, in her Getting Personal: We Salute 10 Of Our Favorite Pop-Culture Humans Of 2009:

    7. Ben Folds. Folds, probably most famous for the late ’90s hit “Brick,” has been kicking around a long time doing wacky audience-participation stuff, like this wonderful cover of “Such Great Heights,” which he performed with a wall of guitarists.

But late in the year, he showed up as a judge on NBC’s The Sing-Off and immediately seemed like a guy who should be on television in some capacity as often as possible. His presence was warm and generous, charismatic and funny. Somehow, even within the confines of a highly corny network a cappella competition, Ben Folds was enthusiastic and very smart, and his feedback was actually specific and helpful. Not that he would (or should) do it in a million, billion, squazillion years, but if American Idol had this kind of judging, it would be a whole different ball game.

  133. I understand why many feel that Lady Gaga should win breakout artist at PCA, but maybe I don’t completely understand what “breakout” artist means. As many years as Adam has tried to “breakout” in the business, imo, I think he qualifies and deserves to win, and hope he does. I don’t think the criteria for being nominated is for the artist to have sold millions of records.

  134. Saw this on twitter:

Kris Allen co-hosts the Weekly Top 40 with Rick Dees this weekend. They will count down only #1 hit songs from the past four years.

  135. Eample of when Adam Fans do spam a vote and get no credit for it!

I dont think that Adams fans will care whether they get credit or not. They just wanted the concert on neutral territory where Adam and Allison would be treated as co-performers and not opening acts for Kris. I cannot see a downside for Kris either that it is in New York.

  136. If the People’s Choice awards are supposed to be about rewarding popularity and not shows that nobody watches, then why did Christina Applegate win last year for Favorite Female TV Star, for a show that was promptly canceled because not enough people watched it?

Because it was an award for an actress, not a show. In general, shows like Two and a Half Men and CSI win the tv prizes on the PCA – for actors/actresses, it’s whoever is popular themselves, not necessarily ON a popular show. But I digress…

I think he was on UK radio today also’ ¦ seems the international launch has started?

Very cool! I just wish we had more insight into what was going on overseas. Hopefully all the wonderful international MJ posters can help fill us in ;-)

  137. Eample of when Adam Fans do spam a vote and get no credit for it!

you know that it’s possible that it wasn’t just adam fans who voted for them in New York. I’m sure that there are Kris and Allison fans who wanted to see them in New York too.

  138. I think he was on UK radio today also’ ¦ seems the international launch has started?

Very cool! I just wish we had more insight into what was going on overseas. Hopefully all the wonderful international MJ posters can help fill us in

Well, in Israel I just saw him today on a cover for one of the main teen magazines (well- sharing the cover with two others, but still, his picture was prominent- too bad it was the pale-faced No Boundaries single cover, but hey, I ain’t complaing or anything), the other day I saw his picture in a crossword puzzle (?!?!?) and while there is no way to download his album or singles from itunes, I know some outlets are selling the album- only it’s not available in all of the country yet (which is LAME cause it’s really a tiny country).
Hopefully it will be soon though.
I have 4 different CD stores who will notify me when it arrives (just out of curiousity, of course, nothing more, tee hee).

  139. All award shows are popularity contests to some extent. Whether they be high brow like the Oscars or the Emmys (what is high brow anywhos) or other Actors like the SAG awards, or the Foreign Press like the Golden Globes. The people who vote are just as moved by the person as they are the performance…that is human nature.

You can look at the history of these shows and see how Peeps are rewarded for all kinds of things besides their abilities on one show or in one movie. Eddie Murphy didn’t win the Oscar for Dream Girls, even though he was the front runner, because he isn’t well liked by the Hollywood establishment. Many Actors and Directors have won because they are well liked…some win because of personal tramas in their lives like when Elizabeth Taylor won after nearly dying.

Voting for Actors and Singers is very subjective….how do you compare a comedic role to an over the top dramatic turn. And it has been interesting in recent years the Bio pic Actors always seem to be the front runners.

As far as fan based awards….well for heaven’s sake. If this is how they are presented then fans should vote like crazy by all means. Without fans many of these Actors and Singers wouldn’t be nearly as popular…and its a nice reward for the fans when their favs win…it makes the time spent on their favs pay off. Every fan base starts out equal…and if some spend the time and effort, well good for them.

edit: Please don’t lecture. No name calling.

  140. Reminder:

If you are banned, and you sign up again with different name, inevitably you will be banned again, unless you change your behavior.

Just a little message to the “new” (not) folks on the blog.

And yes, I know exactly who you are.

  141. you know that it’s possible that it wasn’t just adam fans who voted for them in New York. I’m sure that there are Kris and Allison fans who wanted to see them in New York too.

Honestly, this concert just seems ridiculous. Whichever one of them performs last, the others are going to have been relegated to openers in some way. Unless they are going to constantly mix it up, but that would be a bit tedious since there are 3 seperate bands involved as well. the fans of the final perofrmer are going to try and claim that “their” performed last because (s)he was the headliner. It’s also going to bring back the media comparisons on their styles which at this point have been established as very different from one another (seriously, magine Kris singing Music Again, Allison singing CSA or Adam singing DWTP). Maybe they should just televise them drawing #s for performance order out of a hat or something to avoid any claims of bias.

  142. I dont think that Adams fans will care whether they get credit or not. They just wanted the concert on neutral territory where Adam and Allison would be treated as co-performers and not opening acts for Kris. I cannot see a downside for Kris either that it is in New York.

    I still don’t think it’s right.

Not that this one concert is all that important. But this was for Idol fans to win a concert for themselves in their own city. I don’t care which city, but it wasn’t a contest for Adam fans to decide which city would be the most “neutral.” That’s a conscious decision to defeat the purpose of a contest, which was to bring the three idols to one’s hometown. If the purpose of some Adam fans voting for New York was “anywhere but Little Rock”, I think that’s actually very petty.

I’m sure there was a lot of effort made in Little Rock to get people to vote to bring the concert there, and it would have meant a lot to them if they won. A lot of big events come to New York, but not to LR. If NYC had won it on their own votes, fine. But I don’t think that’s what happened. Little Rock was ahead, and then there was an effort made to take it away from them.

  143. Maybe they should just televise them drawing #s for performance order out of a hat or something to avoid any claims of bias.

Now THAT I can completely support.

  144. Maybe it’s better LR didn’t win the concert. The press would have jumped on that headline as well. Arkansas votes and all that…

  145. As far as fan based awards’ ¦.well for heaven’s sake. If this is how they are presented then fans should vote like crazy by all means. Without fans many of these Actors and Singers wouldn’t be nearly as popular’ ¦and its a nice reward for the fans when their favs win’ ¦it makes the time spent on their favs pay off.

Good point. That’s why I don’t disparage the PCA’s for being a fan popularity contest. Having a lot of fans who are passionate enough to vote for you for an award is kind of an awesome thing to have, imo :-)

Not that this one concert is all that important. But this was for Idol fans to win a concert for themselves in their own city. I don’t care which city, but it wasn’t a contest for Adam fans to decide which city would be the most ‘neutral.’ That’s a conscious decision to defeat the purpose of a contest, which was to bring the three idols to one’s hometown. If the purpose of some Adam fans voting for New York was ‘anywhere but Little Rock’ , I think that’s actually very petty.

I don’t think it’s as simple as saying the vote was for “anywhere but LR”. IMO, I voted for NYC because my town wasn’t getting any votes, and because NYC is pretty neutral – none of the three is from there, and a lot more fans of all three are more likely located there than LR.

As for the order – if they each perform sets of equal length, I can’t see it as the first two opening for the last one. I bet they’ll perform for about the same amount of time each, and then end with a group number. I can see either Kris or Adam being last (though maybe Allison should be allowed to go last just as a complete way of ending any fanwars on the subject ;-) )

Everyone is happy (except not, but then that’s the way it always is ;-))

  146. Maybe they should just televise them drawing #s for performance order out of a hat or something to avoid any claims of bias.

Now THAT I can completely support.

Adam should just go first Kris in the middle and Allison last and the close it out with a trio.

  147. mmb, I love Christina Applegate. Her last show was hilarious. And when she was on Bway, she got rave reviews.

If this contest meant a lot, how come there were so few votes for any place? And, specifically regarding Arkansas, if it mattered so much where where all the Arkansas voters?

ETA: I voted for New York because the odds of Tupelo MS winning were -0% and NY is a media center so Kris, Adam and Allison could all add some PR events and make lemonade out of this. If I had realized that no one was gonna vote for this contest a bit sooner, I would have organized the people around here to vote for Tupelo because we could have gotten 12K votes and it actually would be a big deal hear. Particularly if they added Danny to the bill since this is Danny and Adam country.

Finally, I almost didn’t vote for this because Danny was not including and that still makes me really angry. He did come in #3 and should have been on the bill. JMHO YMMV.

  149. I’m sure there was a lot of effort made in Little Rock to get people to vote to bring the concert there, and it would have meant a lot to them if they won. A lot of big events come to New York, but not to LR. If NYC had won it on their own votes, fine. But I don’t think that’s what happened. If this contest meant a lot, how come there were so few votes for any place? And, specifically regarding Arkansas, if it mattered so much where where all the Arkansas voters?

So true the vote was no where near a landslide. I was actually shocked by how little people voted – LR could have won if they put more of an effort into.

  150. I don’t really think going last is so great. People tend to leave early regardless of who goes last to avoid traffic, or having to go to work the next day or cause they bought kids that are acting up or they saw who they came to see. One nice thing about New York is that it is large enough that all three probably have decent fan bases there.

  151. Isn’t this concert in the morning? Nothing glamorous about a morning concert.

Wow! First of all it seems you almost couldn’t give this concert away. I know people who have more facebook friends than voted in this concert. If any one block of folk was conspiring against another, then you would think they could have mustered up enough troops to do so. I mean Kris won by a landslide right? If those same folk had power voted, don’t you think they could have gotten up enough votes for LR? Seriously….

I voted a couple of times because NY happens to be where I live. If this concert is really taking place at 8am on a Sunday (has that been verified, cause I find it strange, or maybe it’s a typo?) truthfully what kind of concert is that gonna be? I think it’s just a big pain in the ass. Who is the headliner, who goes first, who’s on first, sounds like a bad comedy routine….

Everything always seems to come down to over invested Adam fans when truthfully most of the time that’s not really the case. Furthermore Kris plugged this thing more than anyone else. Why didn’t his fans respond in kind? Adam said he didn’t care until the end, then he mentioned NY, and I can’t blame him. First of all he loves NY and it is one of the entertainment capitals, why wouldn’t he want it there. If they are doing this for promotion, and not sentiment, NY or LA should have been the venue anyway. I am sorta getting sick of these silly tie ins. Seems to cause more trouble than they are worth. I know promo is good, but it seems that there are dustups about everything.

  153. Maybe they should just televise them drawing #s for performance order out of a hat or something to avoid any claims of bias.

Now THAT I can completely support.

Nobody cares about performance order except some of the superidol fans on the internet. I mean, watch the R&R HOF anniversary concert on HBO…CSN, Stevie Wonder and Simong & Garfunkel were not “openers” for Springsteen. Aretha was not an “opener” for U2. NYC audiences gave each of Allison, Adam and Kris terrific receptions this summer on tour and will give them each a terrific reception at the NYC concert. Is anyone going to enjoy Kris’ set less if he opens the show? will anyone enjoy Adam’s less if he opens the show? there will be no public drawing out of hats for performance order in a free 3 person concert.

  154. If the purpose of some Adam fans voting for New York was ‘anywhere but Little Rock’ , I think that’s actually very petty.

Maybe some fans in and around New York actually voted to try and get the concert near by. Why is that so hard to believe? Maybe there are some Kris and Allison fans who live around New York and would like to see them perform.

I’m sure some fans who weren’t planning on going to NYC voted for that location. The same thing happened with Little Rock. People FROM OTHER STATES AND COUNTRIES were texting Kris’s mom asking for the zip code to Little Rock.

  155. I don’t really think going last is so great. People tend to leave early regardless of who goes last to avoid traffic, or having to go to work the next day or cause they bought kids that are acting up or they saw who they came to see. One nice thing about New York is that it is large enough that all three probably have decent fan bases there.

I disagree to some extent. I go to a lot of concerts and the thing that I notice most is that a tremendous amount of people arrive late. I think middle or last is the spot to have. Especially for a day show, but really for either. Sure, people leave early for extenuating circumstances, or because they really don’t care about the last performer, but that’s inevitable and I think less common than being late.

  156. Will whoever is actually footing the bill for this “early bird” concert care about perceptions of “fairness” or lack thereof? Will the order matter at all to them, do you think? (I honestly have no idea.)

Many here don’t seem to think this concert is a good idea (for various reasons). Why do you think those who are responsible for it (it’s Ryan Seacrest’s idea, I’ve gathered, right?) thought it would be?

  157. Finally, I almost didn’t vote for this because Danny was not including and that still makes me really angry. He did come in #3 and should have been on the bill. JMHO YMMV.

I think we discussed before about how Danny is the one out of the group that is not managed by 19 – so that could explain why he was not included on the bill. That made a lot of sense to me.

  158. If the purpose of some Adam fans voting for New York was ‘anywhere but Little Rock’ , I think that’s actually very petty.

Yes, definitely. Kind of like “anyone but the gay guy”.

  159. I came to see what people made of Adam’s date with Drake last night and am surprised that is not a hot topic.

Seriously, this is what’s on my mind lol.

  160. I came to see what people made of Adam’s date with Drake last night and am surprised that is not a hot topic.

haha…go back a few pages — it was discussed. Are they back together? Just friends? Friends with benefits? who knows…..its a mystery…and none of our business

  161. Huh, how do you guys know he was with Drake? Photos?

Adam tweeted that he went to see Avatar with Drake.

  162. Seriously, this is what’s on my mind lol.

Then talk about it. Please don’t complain about the thread.

Yes, definitely. Kind of like ‘anyone but the gay guy’ .

Ugh @ the tit-for-tat fan warring. What does this have to do with Ross’s post?

  163. I would guess that folks in Little Rock will have little to no probelm seeing performances by Kris in the future. Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard, and to a lesser extent Bo Bice, book Birmingham venues for every tour, concert or other project with which they are involved . Then there are the many “private” gigs they do when they are in the area that are somehow publicized.
The only downside for the Little Rock fans is if they were Adam, Allison or Kradison fans.

  164. I dont think that Adams fans will care whether they get credit or not. They just wanted the concert on neutral territory where Adam and Allison would be treated as co-performers and not opening acts for Kris. I cannot see a downside for Kris either that it is in New York.

I saw a lot of Adam fans using this term, “neutral territory,” and it never made any sense to me. This isn’t a war, and the concert isn’t a contest to see who gets the loudest cheers. Not only that, if you asked any of the Idols, they would tell you that they got the biggest cheers of the tour from the Little Rock crowd. Yes, Kris got the loudest cheers of all (he was a winner in his hometown), but they also said that the crowd was extraordinarily enthusiastic in cheering for everyone. Lower ranking performers like Megan, Michael, and Lil all got huge cheers from the Little Rock crowd. Even Adam said he got the loudest cheers of the tour in Little Rock. (A lot of Kris’s family and friends, including his parents, his wife, etc., are HUGE Adam fans, in addition to being Kris fans.)

Maybe it’s better LR didn’t win the concert. The press would have jumped on that headline as well. Arkansas votes and all that’ ¦

But the whole point of the concert was for local communities to vote to bring it to their town. So, I really don’t see any way in which it would have been a bad headline for Kris’s hometown to have won the contest.

As for the issues of powervoting, the rules of the contest forbid it. It will be interesting to see how they sort out who gets tickets to this thing. I do know a number of people from NYC who voted, but I also know there were a lot of votes from people outside NYC, and if they don’t live within 50 miles, I think, they are not allowed to win tickets. I would not want to be the office grunt having to sort all this out, that’s for sure.

I think we discussed before about how Danny is the one out of the group that is not managed by 19 ‘“ so that could explain why he was not included on the bill. That made a lot of sense to me.

My guess is that it has more to do with the fact that Danny is now a country artist.

Is there anything to indicate that this has anything to do with 19M contracts/relationships? The concert is not being promoted by Ryan Seacrest Productions (the ‘Sponsor’ ), Eventful, Inc. (the ‘Administrator’ ), On Air with Ryan Seacrest (the ‘Radio Show’ ), 19 Entertainment, AEG Worldwide, Inc., and Premiere Radio Networks, Inc.

Danny is signed to 19R/RCA Nashville and isn’t 19R is part of 19 Entertainment?

Also, based on the terms of the releases that the people who attend the concert are required to sign, parts of this concert will be broadcast. Have they said where they plan to air it? Since 19E is involved perhaps they will use it on Idol, and in that case I think Danny should be included.

  166. But the whole point of the concert was for local communities to vote to bring it to their town. So, I really don’t see any way in which it would have been a bad headline for Kris’s hometown to have won the contest.

That was the whole point in getting people to vote, but it’s a promo show like any of the rest of them meant to get exposure and sell records.
Kris needs the exposure to new audiences as much as any of the rest of them, so IMO NY is a win for him, too. He won’t sell any additional music playing to Little Rock, where presumably everyone already has his stuff. It may be a great hometown show but IMO NY is more useful to all of them.

Actually I think the whole contest was as much about Ryan’s promotional expansion as anything. The Idols were just his first victims choice.

  167. But the whole point of the concert was for local communities to vote to bring it to their town. So, I really don’t see any way in which it would have been a bad headline for Kris’s hometown to have won the contest.

I thought the whole point of this concert was to film a concert to use for some future television broadcast. That is what the audience releases cover.

  168. This afternoon dj on 93.3 in Tampa always has something smart ass to say when introducing WWFM. Today a guy called in to request the song and said something about beer, I didn’t catch the context. And the DJ said ‘why are you drinking beer and not Zima listening to Adam Lambert?’ Yesterday it was something about his hair. The day before it was his eyeliner. They always play the song around 5pm in Tampa, which is great drive time.

That being said, they always say Adam’s name when the song comes on, maybe it’s in the Jingle Ball contract. ??

As for Drake, I hope it’s friends with benefits if the timing isn’t right for something serious. Hey, Adam deserves to get some as much as anyone else and Drake’s been silent about details. It’s all good!

  169. I don’t know about anybody else, but my first thought when I read Adam’s tweet was, how old is this guy again? How many 27 year olds are mature enough to date somebody for 6 months, break up, remain friends, and actually go to a movie together…all while the world looks on? That’s hard stuff to understand and deal with for most people. Plus…Drake is only what, 24 or something? I know 40 year olds that can’t handle something like that. His knowledge and understanding of life is truly beyond his years. When I was that age it was all about closure….quick closure. The last thing I would have considered was letting the relationship “evolve” as Adam put it, to see what would happen next.

Then, my second thought was, why in the hell am I so obsessed with this dude’s life that I’m thinking about all of this??? LOL :)

  170. Especially one that just proves who has the fanbase who are the best at spamming polls.

As Idol fans, don’t we love this though? Isn’t that what American Idol is really predicated upon? Of course, the spamming is done through calls and text messaging. Doesn’t seem to be a major issue for Idol fans, especially, when ‘our guy’ won.

LOL! So true! American Idol is set up so fans can vote as many times as they like. Who wins is not always who “deserves it”. (just like The People’s Choice Awards) The winner, quite simply, is the one who gets the most votes.
How are the PCAs any different from AI?

  171. Actually I think the whole contest was as much about Ryan’s promotional expansion as anything. The Idols were just his first victims choice.

I don’t think that said Idols are unwilling as the term ‘victims’ would imply. I think the benefit is pretty mutual. I think that it is cool that Ryan is invested in the Idols beyond the show. Sure, he is going to make a few bucks off of it, but he should. That’s smart of him.

  172. Reminder:

We aren’t going to have 10 pages on the Kradison concert tonight, because we’ve been there and done that. I don’t think there’s anything left to say.

ITA – at the end of the day, this is my take on it too. They have to give the concert, whether they want to or not, and NYC offers them all the best exposure, imo.

Then, my second thought was, why in the hell am I so obsessed with this dude’s life that I’m thinking about all of this??? LOL

LMAO. How many times this year have I said, damn, I need a real life so I can stop living vicariously through Adam’s love life ;-)

  174. A little tired of the Adam LAmbert debacle ..He was upstaged by the Tiger and enough mistress to start a calender one.Personally the artist I would vote for playing in my area would be Sting,Elton John a or Billey Joel to come.I can’t wait for the new season to start ..I am tired of the tit for tat or the information overload..Se Le Vi.

Neutral territory-reminds me a place where gangs can meet and not fight..

  175. FYI – I don’t have any access to German Charts, but I can read German and went to amazon.de (Germany’s Amazon). 2 weeks ago FYE was on rank 6003, today it’s on rank 2628! While Kris Allen is still on 63530. Meanwhile SuBo is “down” to rank 20. the top there is Rhianna @ #1 and Gossip (Music for Men) @ #2, #3 is Lady Gaga (Fame Monster).
    – thought that was interesting and a change of topic :)

  176. LR lost end of story – they are resourceful they could have found away to win. Those who get the opportunity to go – please enjoy it.

  177. Does anyone know when the WWFM video will debut?

No word yet, as far as I know. But Can. Not. Wait :-)

ETA: Adam is doing the Fuse interview on January 11 – that might be a good time (place) to debut it.

  178. I think any of the people nominated for the Peoples Choice Award “deserve” to win. To me, the fact that they are nominated takes away the trouble of having to decide who is deserving. The fine folks at the PCAs have done that for us by putting up five very deserving individuals.

If we’re talking about the person with the most record sales or the most record hits as the most deserving, then why not just tally it up and award that person? Oh wait… isn’t that what the Billboard Awards are for?

These five people have been nominated, and now… because this is how it works… the public votes. If I’m a betting person, I’d put my money on Adam Lambert or Lady GaGa. I don’t think they are any more or less deserving than the others, but I think they are hot and have the buzz and the votes.

As a voting person, I put my vote in for Adam Lambert. As this is a “Breakout Artist” award, I voted for who truly “broke out” for me this year. There was not a little set of instructions next to the ballot that urged me to consider numbers, sales, hits, etc. At this point… it’s pick who you connected with… who is your breakout artist?

From Adam’s week after week of WOW performances on AI, to his amazing set on the American Idols Live tour, to his live performances since then, to his high charting debut artist album (and the equally high critics marks it’s received), to his inspiring fans to donate over a quarter of a million dollars to charity…. I have found my breakout star of 2009.

If others choose to consider a different nominee and his or her great accomplishments this year, that’s wonderful. They all have accomplishments, whether it be sales, or inspiration, or charting singles, or good album sales, or winning a competition, etc. etc.

I do think Adam is going to win, but if he doesn’t, I’ll have no ill will for whoever does win. The voters who vote determine this thing… that’s it.

I’m not a spammer. Just a loyal fan who is aware of the vote, who pops in every now and then to show my support. Stating in advance I’m offended by the notion that if Adam wins… the only reason is because of fan spamming. :-)

  180. That mistake in that article referencing Taylor Hicks is hilarious. The internet has sure made ‘journalism’ sloppier than ever. They make mistakes and then easily correct them, but having it in print forever is much more horrific and humbling. Too bad.

The mistake definitely illustrates the FML feeling that the journalist undoubtedly had when penning that “newsworthy” story! Not too invested if he/she’s confusing Taylor Hicks and Taylor Swift!

  181. No word yet, as far as I know. But Can. Not. Wait :-)

  182. Winks8, loved your post :-) Yep. It’s a vote for whoever you want to vote for, end of story. No arm twisting to get you to vote a certain way. And no lives will likely be changed forever based on who wins or loses ;-)

  183. January 11th seems so far away. Lie to me.

  187. I think it is fantabulous when celebrities take the time to visit Children’s hospitals. Kudos to Kris for doing this. I’m sure it helps the kids tremendously and gets their (and their parents) minds off of their struggles.

I also like that he didn’t publicize this in advance to turn it into a media thing. It’s only after he went that we’re all finding out about this.

  189. Great post Winks8. These polls were made for spamming and fans of any artist has equal opportunity. May the “best” man/woman win.

As for the Ryan Seacrest Idol concert I agree that the locale is the right one for all the performers, but I’m surprised (& not in a good way) that it’s scheduled for 8am Sun. morning. That seems extremely inconvenient for both the performers and the audience. Dumb.

  190. Huh, and I thought Adam was tweeting about the movie plot line. I can’t see the forest for the trees sometimes :)

Don’t worry, I thought the same thing. It was extremely ambiguous, but at least there were no typos.

  192. I really think that if and when any poll, or award is put up for the voters to choose then gloves are off, and fans can, and will do what they can to get their favorite to win. So, if PC, put AL, as a breakout artist, and he wins…great for Adam and his fans, he deserves it as much as the rest of the nominated.

  195. Hello everybody at mj,
    I missed you guys !!!
I just got back from a long vacation. Hope I still get my job when I go back to work.
Man ! I got 16 inches of snow in DC. Had to cancell the Terra Cotta Warriors Exibition from China. Actually lost the money b/c I bought 4 tickets for it. Now I’m back to the sand, sea, and sunshine land.

MJ, the minutes I got home from travelling thousands of miles, I checked in here first. Your place is addicted.
Will catch up later, need a hot bath and good sleep.

And here is for Adam’s lovers. Enjoy !!!

  196. Where did you folks hear/see the news regarding 8am NYC concert on the 14th? That sounds really odd.

I reread Adam’s tweet and agree that he probably is talking about Drake and not the movie. Very interesting…..

  197. Steph, that’s a great feature about Danny on Fox! He looks so cute! Oh, and he did a good job too. ;) Thanks for posting the link.

Josie, I thought so too — to both questions ;)

Wonder when that was taped, wish I’d seen it when it aired live on Fox News but I was trying to tune out television and mostly stay offline Christmas weekend.

  199. steph6449: Thanks for that article about Danny at the fundraiser! I live in Arkansas and didn’t know that. That hospital is in Rogers which is in the Northwestern part of the state. It’s part of the Fayetteville-Springdate-Rogers-Bentonville metroplex. There is a LOT of money in that part of the state with Wal-Mart home offices, Tyson Foods, and J.B. Hunt Trucking just some of the major corporations located there. I’m not surprised they raised so much money.

Good for Danny showing his support for this!

  200. mzbet, that article kind of resonated with me, as about 18 mos ago I had the same type of biopsy for which they are trying to buy that new stereotactic system to upgrade what’s available for women in that part of Arkansas today. Was glad to see that by headlining for the fundraiser and entertaining the donors, Danny could make a contribution in his way to improve the medical care in that area.

No one is too sure of the details, but he has another medical fundraiser apparently in ~2 weeks or so, for the St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Louisiana.

“Natural causes” is being claimed again, but it sounds like the dude did some seriously hard living for someone so young.

Avenged Sevenfold Drummer Dies In California

In recent years, Avenged Sevenfold tried to live down its reputation for debauchery. Sullivan, in particular, had raised eyebrows after a 2006 cover story in metal magazine Revolver described his penchant for cocaine and other drugs.

  205. Pfft natural causes my eyeball…. and I still don’t think Brittany Murphy was natural causes either.

  206. That youth philanthropic organization in Arkansas that Kris is supporting sounds very cool. I wonder if the $10K they donated to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital was all raised by kids?

It’s nice to hear about some of the charity projects the various Idols are workign with.

Meanwhile, here’s a funny tweet from Kris:

  207. I doubt Adam was on a date with Drake. They are friends — friends go to movies together all the time.

  208. The drummer is a local from where I live, so the news was fast around here in Southern California at least. It was also trending pretty quickly last night.

  209. Pfft natural causes my eyeball’ ¦. and I still don’t think Brittany Murphy was natural causes either.

28 year olds do die suddenly of natural causes. It’s not common, but it does happen.

    And, I wish I didn’t know that.

  210. Unfortunately it’s true that 28yr olds can die young. My brother-in-law to be died at that age years ago of a brain aneurism. Very sad as it happened right at the holidays too.

  211. Pfft natural causes my eyeball’ ¦. and I still don’t think Brittany Murphy was natural causes either.

I am probably wrong about this, but aren’t all deaths that aren’t homicide or suicide death by natural causes? Like someone can die from a drug overdose but the death was from a heart attack or whatever the drug caused, and that was the natural cause of death?

  212. 28 year olds do die suddenly of natural causes. It’s not common, but it does happen.

    And, I wish I didn’t know that.

So true – I know about a girl that died of natural causes at 25.

  213. @ MJ – True, I know of people who were young who have died from natural causes but I think Brittany Murphy may have had a eating disorder that may have trigger other causes that lead to her death. But I guess it doesn’t really matter in the end, two more people with a lot a life ahead of them are gone.

  214. Good for Adam that he’s able to remain friends with his ex’s. He’s a bigger person than I.

  215. Squirrely

@ MJ ‘“ True, I know of people who were young who have died from natural causes but I think Brittany Murphy may have had a eating disorder that may have trigger other causes that lead to her death. But I guess it doesn’t really matter in the end, two more people with a lot a life ahead of them are gone.

From what I remember Brittney Murphy had a heart murmur and if she had the flu like reported that could trigger cardiac arrest due to the strain on the heart.

  216. I agree w Adam that Avatar is great especially in 3D. I don’t think the latter part of his treet was about the movie, not finding anything like that in the movie. I hang out w my ex and our mutual friends until I moved to another city so I understand how Adam could see a movie w Drake.

  217. I hope that Adam’s outing with Drake was just friendship. I am a little worried though. Adam was pretty devastated when he and Drake broke up. Also Adam hasn’t found anyone else. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I don’t want Adam to get hurt.

  218. I was on the road and listened to radio more than I do everyday. I love Gaga but I’m getting tired of her because the radio played her songs every 15 mins. Although the radio rotated 3 maybe 4 Gaga songs, she has a signatrue voice and distinguishable style, so it’s easy to tell her songs.

That’s aside, I think Gaga deserves every award she is nominated to. So do other nominators.

  219. Adam is a grown man who seems to have his goals prioritized. Whether he’s friends with Drake or friends with benefits, it’s good either way. He has to be careful who he get’s involved with. Drake is a known entity, and Adam seems to trust him. So I don’t see why Adam shouldn’t still be friends with him or maybe more than just friends. Right now, I don’t think Adam has a lot of time to devote to maintaining a relationship. He has to prepare for the New Year Eve’s concert, then the overseas promotional tour and of course the U.S. tour. He seems like a very driven person, who likes to stay busy. His career will have to come before any relationship, until he becomes an established star.

  220. From what I remember Brittney Murphy had a heart murmur and if she had the flu like reported that could trigger cardiac arrest due to the strain on the heart.

    I read she had diabetes.

I know somebody who laid down to take a nap with flu-like symptoms, and didn’t wake up. The autopsy report said her lungs filled with fluid–pulmonary embolism. I think that’s what the british boybander who died recently had.

  221. Adam was pretty devastated when he and Drake broke up.

Don’t remember it going down that way at all. I thought that the two of them just decided to part ways since their respective careers were taking a lot of time. Can’t remember anyone, especially Adam or Drake, declaring they were devastated.

I remember it the same way as you Tess.

I believe you are right about that. A drug overdose is considered “natural causes” I do believe.

I saw Cook’s tweet last night and wondered how he knew about it so soon. I went on-line and couldn’t find anything posted at the time.

Just guessing, but he’s in the music industry, knows a lot of people, word travels fast. Maybe he knew someone who knew someone who knew the band.

  225. Looks like Kris is going to be performing overseas early next year, if this is to be believed…

Someone on twitter is saying that Kris will be performing (or at least in) the Phillipines in early February. Maybe MJ can do some digging to find out if this is true?

    rhizap

    # FEBFEST – Feb. 5 in Cebu and Feb. 6 at the McKinley Hill concert grounds. Kris Allen and Jabbawockeez. about 2 hours ago from web

EDIT: According to ontd_ai, This tweeter is evidently from Music Management International and helped organize the concert in the Phillipines by Misters Cook and Archuleta. Which would make her legit. Of course even if this is true, it could fall through, like the thing where Archie was supposed to perform with Katy Perry did.

    But exciting news, anyway.

  226. Winks8 great post. You said everything I have been thinking and if Adam wins the PCA I will def be dancing around the tv with a huge smile. He is my breakout artist of the year/decade!!

  227. I saw Cook’s tweet last night and wondered how he knew about it so soon. I went on-line and couldn’t find anything posted at the time.

By the time Cook Tweeted about it was all over Twitter and some news outlets. So I don’t think there is anything unusual about it. He is a fan of Avenged Sevenfold and mentioned them in one of his interviews.

  228. I saw Cook’s tweet last night and wondered how he knew about it so soon. I went on-line and couldn’t find anything posted at the time.

I already knew about it by the time Cook tweeted…

  229. I know somebody who laid down to take a nap with flu-like symptoms, and didn’t wake up. The autopsy report said her lungs filled with fluid’“pulmonary embolism. I think that’s what the british boybander who died recently had.

My husband’s niece was 20 when she contracted the flu, which infected the lining of her heart. Her college roommate found her unconcious in their dorm room and she was rushed to the hospital, but there was nothing the doctors could do but add her name to a transplant list and put her on medications. The lining burst a little over a month later.
I also had a friend whose teenage sister died of a heart attack when we were in grade school. My friend died of a heart attack when she was 42.

  230. I am probably wrong about this, but aren’t all deaths that aren’t homicide or suicide death by natural causes? Like someone can die from a drug overdose but the death was from a heart attack or whatever the drug caused, and that was the natural cause of death?

You are not wrong, that’s absolutely correct. All “natural causes” means is that the body shut down on its own. Only an autopsy can determine the actual cause, if it wasn’t suicide or homicide.

  231. I thought beautiful Brittany looked really thin. Maybe from diabetes??? Maybe anorexic???

    She was so adorable.

  232. Adam was pretty devastated when he and Drake broke up.

Don’t remember it going down that way at all. I thought that the two of them just decided to part ways since their respective careers were taking a lot of time. Can’t remember anyone, especially Adam or Drake, declaring they were devastated.

Well I, for one, was devastated.

  233. not sure if this was posted but the fye album cover is featured in the jib jab year in review.also Adam and Paula leaving are mentioned in earlier versions of the lyrics.anyway I missed u guys<3

  234. I just saw on twitter that there is an iPhone app for Kris? It’s like a trivia app? Anyone know if Adam or any of the other current/former Idols also have iPhone apps? (I don’t own an iphone myself)

  235. David Cook had an app to make your iPhone look like a flame, like to hold up at concerts. I thought it was a pretty silly app, to tell you the truth.

  236. Anyone know if Adam or any of the other current/former Idols also have iPhone apps?

David Archuleta just recently had the “Christmas karaoke thingy” (lol) iPhone app released on iTunes. But, of course, Christmas is now over so I doubt it will be used much now.

  237. I just got back from a long vacation. Hope I still get my job when I go back to work.

Welcome back! The video brings back great memories of the “Year of Adam” and for the first time ever, I’m planning to watch the AI reruns starting with his San Francisco audition on Jan. 1. That’s when I first did a double take and took notice of Adam. I was smitten after Hollywood week and head over heels in love after ROF.

  238. His career will have to come before any relationship, until he becomes an established star.

But then there’s the chance that his career will ALWAYS come before his relationships, if he never becomes an established star. And established stars have crammed schedules too–often more so than aspiring ones. I think it’s more accurate to say that his career will simply come before any relationship until he begins to value relationships over his career.

  239. A rather large number of fans were upset about Adam/Drake split, but in everything I read Adam was quite nonchalant about it. …busy with time contraints, but they are dear friends. Adam also made it clear he will date as he “is single.”Some one posted his astrological chart link way back, and his chart did say he would not be likely to marry, but would be very socially active….Also he would be wise not to indulge in mind altering substances. I kid you not!! Anyway he has FAME all over his chart….So Hallelujah for the rest of us. That would leave some of his fans hoping for serial monogamy??
    Mabe??

  240. Thanks for the link Jurnee, That was just a incredibly wonderful retrospective of some of Adams wonderful moments over the course
    of this incredible debut year.

Bwaaahaaa! Now that was funny… I highly doubt Adam keeps kosher, but it would be wickedly funny if he did :-)

I’m not a huge believer in astrology (sorry Adamand all the others who do), but in this case I’m especially hoping his future doesn’t hold for him what you just wrote, justjude. I hope he eventually finds real, long lasting love. Same as I’m hoping for myself :-)
