Carrie Underwood Calls Hubby the ‘Missing Piece to My Puzzle’

With two careers that keep them on the road, Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher haven’t had much together time since their July 10 wedding, but the singer says for her, marriage is a perfect fit.

“Mike’s the missing piece to my puzzle – he’s a few pieces, ” Underwood tells PEOPLE Country in its November issue. “He makes me a better person.”

Though Underwood, 27, admits that winters in her hockey player husband’s native Canada can be rough (“I can’t do my cute heels in the winter!”), for now, the couple are content to shuttle between their Nashville and Ottawa homes.

Live From: Bo Bice

Cowboys & Indians: Some people have said your latest album, 3, is a bit like that old Donny and Marie Osmond song?—?a little bit country, a little bit rock ’n’ roll.
Bo Bice: [Laughs.] Hey, I’m a big Osmonds fan, so I take that as a compliment. But, yeah, that’s what it is. I feel like it’s a nice mixture of country music and Southern rock. The last CD, See the Light, was very much Southern rock. I know that’s how most people think of me. That was kind of my label on [American Idol]?—?I was supposed to be “the rocker.” But it’s not a far stretch to include the country side as well. Particularly on some of my singer-songwriter stuff.

‘Dancing with the Stars’: Eliminated contestant talks about ‘competing against athletes, graceful people’

After hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke tortured the contestants through another excruciating night of who’s safe and who’s not (better to wait and hear everything they say, Cheryl Burke!), another low-scoring performer was sent packing Tuesday on Dancing with the Stars. For more about the celebrity who got the heave-ho, go to the jump. Margaret Cho may have been responsible for some of the best soundbites this season (she called her samba on Monday “the gayest thing that ever happened”), but it looks like viewers weren’t too interested in her impromptu yuks. After she and Louis Van Amstel scored 18 out of a possible 30 for dancing to Barry Manilow’s “Copacabana” on Monday, the comedienne became the third contestant to leave the ABC reality show.

CNN’s Piers Morgan Vows Format Changes

EXCLUSIVE: Piers Morgan tells me that he’s planning big changes to the Larry King Live interview slot he inherits in January. “The format, everything, will change. I’m not just going to be another man sitting in the CNN studio wearing red braces.” Morgan tells me his mission is to help boost CNN’s sagging primetime line-up. Larry King Live scored its lowest monthly viewer total in nearly 20 years in May, averaging just 653, 000 viewers each night.

President Obama tops Morgan’s list of potential CNN interviewees, although nothing’s been agreed yet. The production team needs to be finalised before guests are signed. The show will be mostly filmed in New York apart from 3 months in the summer when Morgan is judging America’s Got Talent in Los Angeles. Morgan’s reality show pals Donald Trump and Simon Cowell have already said they’ll be interviewed.

  4. Looking to find out more about those 2010 BMI Awards in London…I found this link, from BMI – Broadcast Music Incorporated.

“”BMI celebrated Europe’s premier songwriters, composers and music publishers tonight during its annual BMI London Awards. Guests filled London’s Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane to toast the past year’s most-performed songs on U.S. radio and television.”

There were a lot of awards in different categories, “Come Back to Me” was a winner in the Pop Awards for most performed songs, and Bjørklund/Lind are cited (along with David as the performer), but not Zac Maloy, since those two gentlemen are European. – I wonder is it only US Radio and Television, or any time in the US that BMI tracks the songs as being played?

Regardless, a nice award, and cool for CBTM to receive recognition in Europe for being one of the “Most Performed Songs” in the Pop Category.

  5. I wonder why Kris wasn’t credited as the performer for those BMI Awards? Maybe since The Script had already released a version of the song — even if only on some obscure Japanese/German version of an EP/CD? (I can’t even remember how The Script released it anymore)

  6. After David Cook tweeted about David Archuleta’s new album yesterday , Archie tweeted back, thanking him and saying now we need new music from Cook. So true!

BMI is one of the licensing companies songwriters register their songs with, another one is ASCAP. I believe each songwriter only belongs to one. Somebody asked Zac on twitter about not being listed for this award and he replied that he is with ASCAP.

  8. Kris is listed in BMI database for songs he wrote/co-wrote and it looks like his publishing company now has a name, PIG SOOIE JAMS on those songs along with Universal. lol!!!!!

ETA: For LLWD Kris is listed as one of the Artists.

    This makes me smile. :-)

    ——–

it does make sense that Kris is mentioned for LLWD for the BMI awards

  11. ETA: For LLWD Kris is listed as one of the Artists.

I think she meant why isn’t he listed under the artists for the BMI London Awards. It’s interesting because The Script did not release their version of LLWD in the UK, but even though it wasn’t promoted, Kris’ album was released in the UK.

  12. Finally, some news about Lee’s single, I hope that’s what it is anyway. :)

  13. I wonder why Kris wasn’t credited as the performer for those BMI Awards?

They must have updated the news article since last night because when I looked last night it had The Script and now even the original article now says Kris Allen.

  14. They must have updated the news article since last night because when I looked last night it had The Script and now even the original article now says Kris Allen.

I thought that had to be a mistake, considering that The Script’s version of LLWD wasn’t even released in the UK, or, according to one person in the group, any country except Germany.

I wonder what are the odds of the song being nominated for song of the year at the Grammy Awards.

  15. About time we get some real news on Lee’s first single. I wonder which radio station will get the honor of being the first to play it?

  16. I wonder what are the odds of the song being nominated for song of the year at the Grammy Awards.

    Probably less than none.

  17. The Script probably has a chance for a grammy nom as a group, but probably not much else. Breakeven possibly.

  18. Can’t wait to hear a new song from Lee!

Yay for Carly on HK. Hope they don’t undercook her beef wellington or oversalt the rissotto.

  19. Probably less than none.

It’s a good song, and if a group of songwriters thought it was good enough to win a writing award, then the people who vote on the Grammy Awards might feel the same way.

The Script probably has a chance for a grammy nom as a group, but probably not much else. Breakeven possibly.

The Script didn’t write LLWD, so they weren’t going to be nominated for song of the year for that, and their album was released in 2008, so they aren’t going to get a nomination for that.

  20. Wait, I thought we were discussing last week The Script being a possible for BNA nom this year. Are they not eligible? (Kinda glad if so..) ETA: I don’t dislike them, but it makes more room for Idols on Pop :)

  21. The Script didn’t write LLWD, so they weren’t going to be nominated for song of the year for that, and their album was released in 2008, so they aren’t going to get a nomination for that.

The writer/composers are listed as Frampton, Kipner, O’Donoghue (The Script) & Sheehan(The Script)

  22. Wait, I thought we were discussing last week The Script being a possible for BNA nom this year. Are they not eligible? (Kinda glad if so..)

Looking at Amazon, their album wasn’t released in the US until 2009, so they are eligible for new artist of the year.

  23. The writer/composers are listed as Frampton, Kipner, O’Donoghue (The Script) & Sheehan(The Script)

The writers aren’t listed like that, even though it would be strange and funny if that was the case. While those two are members of The Script, they aren’t the only two members, and they are not the only two writers of LLWD, so saying that The Script wrote LLWD would be like crediting Matchbox 20 with writing Her Diamonds or any of the other songs that Rob Thomas has written for himself or other artists.

  24. Time for Lee to put out the first single!! It’s been long without much post-idol buzz.

  26. If they are eligible for BNA, I’m kinda expecting a nom to fill ‘The Group’ slot. Pop/Rap/Group/Country/Critical darling ;)

  27. Does anyone remember that song that Katy Allen said Kris finished right before the album deadline with EG White that she loved but it was too late to make it on the album? It is listed on BMI.

.The next single will be “Alright With Me”. Thanks to everyone that has already believed in this song. This fall is gonna be a lot of fun.

That’s awesome :D. I hope this song will be a hit.

  30. wellhesback: David Cook named his music publishing “Analog Heart Music” if I recall. but “Pig Sooie Jams” is meaningful to Kris, I guess and that’s what counts

Kelly named her music publishing company “Smelly Songs” and Carrie named hers “Carrie Okie Music”. I love these little peeks into their senses of humor :P

  31. PIG SOOIE JAMS

I like that name. It shows a playful side of Kris’ personality, and it has a meaning for him.

I’m so excited for the third single. I wish it had been released during the summer, and it is going to face a lot of competition from all the November releases, but it is such a fun song. I think teens and young adults will love it, and it will give people a glance at Kris’ personality. I hope he gets some more radio shows/interviews so that he can perform it, as well as some tv appearances.

I see nothing wrong with the name – lol how many people will even ever hear it? And lol at Kelly’s and Carrie’s company names. I think they realize that few people outside of those who actually are in the business will ever see the names anyways, so why not have a little fun?

Doesn’t seem to me that this is too late for news of a single to be coming out if Lee’s album will be out in November. If the single is released in about a week, it leaves a month at least before the album would come out from the sounds of it – I would think that it’s better to have less time between the single and the album release than to have more time, unless you’re a very well known established artist. If your single does create buzz when it comes out, but there’s no album to buy – will people still stay interested until the album comes out or will some forget? I’d think it’d be better to have your album available pretty soon after that first single (like a couple weeks, not a month or several months). I tend to think the general public has a very short attention span – especially much of Lee’s target market.

  35. David Cook is a very funny man.

I totally agree with this, wjmtv. I love David’s dry wit.

Also – so excited to see if we get to hear about Lee’s single tomorrow. I really liked “Only Dreaming” that he debuted at his Arlington Park Concert, so I’m excited to see what else he has in store.

woohoo! that HAS to be Lee’s single release date announcement!

We are crossing our fingers that it will be his single! :)

  37. I tend to think the general public has a very short attention span – especially much of Lee’s target market.

What?! Hey, I’m new here so maybe this is just a case of somebody’s sense of humor that I’m not familiar with, but, again, What?! Much of Lee’s target market has a very short attention span? Where did that come from (I am actually laughing as I type this – don’t want anyone to get the idea that I’m bitching), but seriously, What?! (still laughing)

  38.
