Hans Ebert, a record executive out of Hong Kong tweets, “Casey James will sign with Sony Nashville. Bill Leopold & The Collective looking at mngmnt.” and tweet #2, “Casey James’ signing will be announced in the next few days.”

Ebert has been following Casey’s career since Idol and has many connections in the business.  I’d bet on this rumor being true.

‘American Idol’ exclusive: Harry Connick Jr., Shania Twain, three others ‘highly unlikely’ as judges

The list of contenders competing for a spot on the American Idol season 10 judges’ panel continues to shrink. A source close to the talks tells EW that Harry Connick Jr., Shania Twain, Chris Isaak, Justin Timberlake, and Jessica Simpson — all of whom have been mentioned in the last two weeks as possible replacements for Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres — are now considered “highly unlikely” to get a full-time gig on Fox’s ratings behemoth.

If the J.Lo deal falls into place, said the source, there’s virtually no chance you’ll see a second woman sitting alongside her. What’s more, the insider added, “the panel really has to appeal to a wide berth — from your 10-year-old niece to your grandmother. I don’t think every person who’s been rumored for the position necessarily fits that bill.”

Geffen Coulda (Shoulda) Been ‘Idol’ Judge

EXCLUSIVE: Fox, Fremantle, and 19 Entertainment are locking in their American Idol judges with each passing day. But I’ve learned that the show really wanted but didn’t snag the best judge possible — David Geffen. My sources say that, about 4 months ago, Idol producer Simon Fuller of 19 Entertainment first approached the one time founder of both Asylum Records (Jackson Browne, The Eagles, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Linda Ronstadt) and Geffen Records (Donna Summer, John Lennon, Elton John, Cher, Aerosmith, Peter Gabriel, Guns N’ Roses, Lifehouse, Nirvana) and former principal of DreamWorks SKG. The two men met twice, and Fuller tried his best to talk Geffen into taking the judging gig left vacant by Simon Cowell. I hear the multibillionaire who rarely gives interviews or appears on television asked Fuller perplexed: “Why should I do this?”

Crystal Bowersox blazes her own path

So what kind of record does she want to make? Something in the vein of Ray LaMontagne or Melissa Etheridge?

“I don’t want it to be like anyone else’s, ” she said in a phone interview from Florida. “I take most of my inspiration from life —I want it to be my words.”

She was pegged as a bit of an old soul this season, and that doesn’t bother her.

“I listen to all sorts of music and check everything out, ” she said, “but what I love is kind of limited to what touches me and what moves me.”
