A whirlwind tour of home for Scotty McCreery

He has gone into the recording studio during several tour stops, as he puts together his first album. Scotty, 17, said it should be released before Thanksgiving and that he’s happy with the nine or 10 songs he has recorded thus far.

“There are some songs that just describe Garner perfectly, ” Scotty said in an interview before Wednesday night’s show. “Some of them will make you dance. Some of them will make you cry. And some of them are just good old inspirational country songs.”

Scotty then was able to head to his Garner home for a bit of downtime. He even managed to take a quick nap in his own bed.

After that, Scotty joked, he stopped by his old workplace – Lowes Foods in Garner – to “turn in his two-weeks notice.”

“They said, ‘It’s been denied. You’ve gotta come back, ‘” said Scotty, who was a cashier at the store before his “Idol” journey began in the spring.

Jordin Sparks Gives Album Update, Talks Acting Opportunities

“I’m still working on it and I don’t really want to rush because I want it to be right, ” says the 21-year-old singer, who recorded a few tracks with John Legend earlier this year and has worked with production duo the Underdogs on the new disc. “[‘I Am Woman’] was definitely something to give my fans different to chew on, something a little bit edgier with more attitude… I want the music that I put out — and especially after putting out ‘I Am Woman’ — to make sense and be cohesive.”

American Idol Finalist Mandisa Sheds Weight, Gains New Perspective

Asked which country artists she’d be interested in working with on future projects, Mandisa picks Underwood, Jennifer Nettles, Wynonna and Kellie Pickler.

“I always tell Kellie I would love to do a song with her, ” she notes. “I think we need to do a duet somehow. I would love for that to happen.”

In April, the Grammy-nominated singer released her third album, What If We Were Real, which she describes as her “most honest” and “edgiest” album. With tracks infused with uplifting messages of overcoming obstacles, coming to terms with your emotions and relying on God’s grace, the album is an enjoyable mix of pop, gospel, R&B and even a little bit of rock.

“I feel like my albums always reflect what’s happening in my life, ” she says, “but it just so happens that what was happening in my life wasn’t all roses this time.”

Annette Benning, Kristin Wiig, Darren Criss – Imogene

Kristen Wiig recently lined up her first post-Bridesmaids project, Imogene, about a woman who fakes suicide to get back with an ex but ends up having to go live with her gambling-addict mom, who will be played by Annette Bening, instead. Last week, buried in a Deadline story, was the rumor that Glee’s Darren Criss would also appear in the film in some capacity. Well, last night, at the premiere of The Whistleblower, we spoke with Celine Rattray — who produced that film and will also be producing Imogene — who confirmed Criss’s involvement and also shared some details about his and Bening’s characters. The takeaway: Wiig will be making out with Darren Criss, and Annette Bening is going to look like she’s on Jersey Shore. As if we weren’t already excited for this movie!

Is ‘Glee’ Imploding?

Murphy’s announcement about the actors took everyone by surprise—including his bosses at Fox and 20th Century Fox TV, his fellow writers, and the actors, who were on hiatus. Although internally there had been conversations about which characters might graduate and the possibility of a spin-off for some of them, no one expected Murphy to make announcement in the press about a fourth season that has not yet been ordered by the network.

“I didn’t necessarily know that it was going to be our last season next year, ” Colfer said. “I knew something like that was coming up eventually. I mean, we can’t be there forever.” A source close to Colfer told The Daily Beast this week that the actor was initially “shocked” to learn the news on Twitter, but he received a phone call from Fox that morning that reassured him.

“I know that Ryan’s used scare tactics in the past to keep the actors in line and when this came out, I wondered if this might be a scare tactic to scare them into thinking if we’re going to let them go, we might get them to re-negotiate for less, ” the source said.

In the Hollywood Reporter interview, Murphy said he had not spoken to Monteith about his plans “but I presume he knows.” Two sources connected to Glee told The Daily Beast that Murphy’s relationship with Monteith has inexplicably soured.
