Q: It’s mellower live?
A: Yeah. I think Jive was aiming for a pop thing, a pop princess thing, and I wasn’t willing to go there.
Q: A pop princess? That’s what they thought they were getting with you?
A: Yeah. I think so. There are two songs on the album, “Lonely Won’t Come Around” and “Hold On, ” that I didn’t write. I’ve always been the kind of artist to write and record the songs that I’m performing. So it was interesting to get down to business on some songs that I didn’t really have an emotional attachment to and to try to convey that I did. You know, it just didn’t feel as organic as it could have, but they’re still great songs and fan favorites. But you probably won’t hear them at the live show.

It has been a memorable year to say the least. My body is tired but the good kind of tired as if I just ran a 15k marathon with incredible things experienced on the way to the finish line. This state of tiredness allows the opportunity to really enjoy the relaxation that feels entirely deserved. On this journey we; finished a 22 episode season which felt like 22 mini movies all on it’s own, jumped on a 42 show world tour after only having 3 days off, directed an LXD live show during all that, filmed the Glee 3D Concert movie, met fans from around the world, ate bizarre and amazing food, laughed a lot, and last but not least, shared lasting moments and memories with some eXtraordinary human beings.

THR: How will Glee’s third season build upon Season 2?
Falchuk: We’re really focusing a lot more on larger story arcs and less about romantic relationships and more on character relationships, outside forces pushing inward on the Glee club. We’re more interested in larger arcs that we did in Season 1.
THR: What did you learn from Seasons 1 and 2 that you plan on applying?
Falchuk: Last season we spent a lot of time on relationships, with people dating other people and next season we want to spend a little more time on letting the stories play out. Some said there was a little too much music, so we might pull back on the music a bit. But in general, we love these characters and we want to spend more time with them and find more ways to explore different parts of them. We want to keep making it appointment TV that you don’t want to TiVo.
