12, 000 auditioning for ‘American Idol’ at Heinz Field
After days of anticipation and, for some, an overnight wait, Pittsburgh auditions for “American Idol” are underway today.
A registered crowd of more than 12, 000 is seated in the end zone area of Heinz Field, although the individual singing portion of what promises to be a very long day has not yet begun.

Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina + More Sign Items for Charity Auction
Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina are using their post ‘American Idol’ fame to do good things. These country kids took part in the City of Hope Celebrity Softball Challenge as part of the 2011 CMA Music Festival in Nashville last month. They also signed bats used during the game, which are now being auctioned off via eBay for the City of Hope charity along with other worthwhile prizes.

Blake surprised the audience mid-set by welcoming fellow American Idol star Elliot Yamin and The Voice stars Nakia and Vicci Martinez onstage for an impromptu beat-box sing-off which thrilled the audience.
