CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WHTZ (Z100)/NEW YORK and syndicated ELVIS DURAN AND THE MORNING SHOW welcomed X FACTOR’s NICOLE SCHERZINGER in studio where DURAN asked her, “Is the mission of X FACTOR to totally crush AMERICAN IDOL?”
Her answer, “No.”
DURAN pressed on and SCHERZINGER explained, “It’s two different shows, they’re looking for two different things.” Co-host TJ said, “That’s the political answer.”
Then RYAN SEACREST called in, “I’m just sitting in the car sipping some coffee listening to this conversation about crushing AMERICAN IDOL — I couldn’t help but call in.”

“American Idol” winner Scotty McCreery has drawn numerous comparisons to Josh Turner, who insists he’s not the least bit concerned about competing. “Waylon Jennings never thought that artists should be competitive, and I come from that school of thought, ” Turner says. “We don’t keep score or score points, or win or lose games against each other. We’re in this together. We’re here to create art and entertain fans, and sometimes we get a chance to do that together. He obviously won ‘American Idol, ’ and I heard that he’s had two days off in the last four months. So I don’t envy him one bit. If it’s a competition, he wins, and I’m OK with it.”
American Idol Carrie Underwood’s surprise road trip
The 28-year-old singer arrived in Sydney in the wee small hours yesterday, after the volcanic ash cloud over Melbourne on Monday forced her entourage to travel by bus instead of plane on her first visit to Australia.
“We got to see a bit of the land I wasn’t expecting to see, ” said Underwood, who is here to promote an updated version of her third album, Play On.
“I feel like I’m on a rollercoaster, but I don’t want to get off, ” she said. “I’ve experienced so much in six years.”

I WAS a dirty child who was always outside. I grew up in a small country town of Checotah, Oklahoma. There wasn’t much to do inside, so I’d climb the trees and play in the ditches and ponds.
I’ve always loved singing, but you don’t grow up thinking that’s a career choice.
For a while, I wanted to be a vet, but somehow I knew I wouldn’t be able to deal with animals dying all day.

Christina Aguilera may not be recording a duet with Adam Lambert, but she apparently did one with another dark-haired singer named Adam — Adam Levine of Maroon 5, her co-judge on The Voice. In the new issue of US Weekly, Christina says of her and Adam, “We just recorded a song together. We have a great relationship. It’s a big lovefest.” Christina further reveals that her next CD, the follow-up to 2010’s Bionic, will be “very introspective, raw and real.”

So far, watching Bravo’s songwriting competition Platinum Hit hasn’t been easy on the ears — and judge Kara DioGuardi knows it.
Sure, viewers sit through season after season of God-awful warbling on DioGuardi’s old show American Idol, but on Platinum Hit, contestants are not only shaky singers, they’re all performing their own half-baked, unproven material. In the first episode, one hopeful, Sonyae, screamed her hook for an original song about Los Angeles — refrain: “LOVE IT OR HATE IT! LOVE IT OR HATE IT! LOVE IT OR HATE IT I LOVE LAAAAA!” — and it was pretty much a train wreck until DioGuardi named it the challenge winner!
